I have a few things listed on craigslist for sale. My bike, some wheels/tires and one of my cars. And I could not help but notice every single piece of spam mail ive gotten in the last 2 weeks is from gmail (googles e-mail service). Got home today 24 new mails from my CL posting. 22 of them spam, 2 were legit all the spam from gmail.com.
Makes me wonder why they all use gmail.com and not some other e-mail provider. |

I would guess that since GMail is still relatively new (only 5 years old and still considered "Beta") there are flaws that allow spammers to send mass emails without getting caught as easily.

I believe TR is correct.
Yahoo is using a new feature for new accounts or accounts that went inactive that you must enter the encryption code prior to sending an e-mail for a month.... ;/ Gmail doesn't do this as of yet on new accounts... Gmail is the old Yahoo... things change ;) |

Everyone can bypass bayesian filters quite easily inbound and outbound within minutes. My guess is gmail is their flavor of the month, or easier captcha than other services

For a long time people were selling thousands of gmail accounts at a time (probably still are). They were a hot commodity when they first came out probably due to Google's lenience when it comes to policing.
Back in the day it was hotmail/yahoo but I think filters started penalizing those domains more, so people started using gmail more. Eventually they'll have to move to live.com or something I bet |

They are probably <>< aka phish / useless accounts used to spam, that people were paid pennies to create each, and have an easily exploitable web interface to spam from. So makes sense it would be their smaller UK subsidiary. All just guesses from previous experience.
