I spent the last week or so working on installing my door poppers.. like 1 hour a night, haha, not much free time. Finally got them all working today, so it was time to get to work.
just a solenoid, no big.
Chopped up my old door for fillers:
ew
then the hardest part.. grinding into the old paint
a few tacks... gettin the settings dialed in and stuff (never used this welder for more than a few practice beads yet)
tacks on the front.. I think I got the technique pretty much down, hoorah!
That's as far as I got tonight.. both passenger doors have a good number of tacks, and the reflection in the paint doesn't look like it's warped yet, so fingers crossed! |

No warping from the welding, but your patch that you cut out looks very un-even.

here's more progress. Warped the front passenger door.. oops, but I learned my lesson and the rest went smoother.
spray bombed for the weekend, until my All Metal body filler gets here

Looking good man.
When seeing the word shave I thought we would see some pics of you shaving in the mirror or something. BTW, I just started shaving with a double edge safety razor! |

Alright.. got antsy today and wanted to do work.. but no filler yet and didn't feel like starting sanding the rest of the car, so I pulled off the side moldings.
The plan was just to pull them off to do the paint right.. but should I just weld the holes shut and smooth it out and leave em off?? I'm kind of diggin the idea.
Then I got this wild hair... how would Aurora mirrors look if I close up the spots for the stock mirrors?
I need opinions, so that way I don't go do something stupid, lol. |

Usually I would say remove those moldings, but on your car it looks like they flow nicely with those lines on the side of your front and rear bumpers. As for the Aurora mirrors,I'm not digging the look on your car,I would just keep your mirrors on there.

Haha, that's unanimous for the mirrors so far. Alright alright, stock it is.. just bought a new stocker anyways.
I think I'm gonna shave the moulding holes just incase.. if I don't like it, double sided tape will always work just fine (that's what they were held on with stock anyways.. the holes were for alignment. |

Ehhh
Got the trim holes shaved on one side today, and started slinging some All Metal body filler that came in the mail today. Using that stuff to do the majority of the filling/ building shape... then gonna bust out the Rage Gold regular filler and board-plain to make sure everything is wave free (fingers crossed). All Metal's a SOB to sand though..! Regardless.. the goal is to get the driver's side bodywork all finished tomorrow. there used to be holes here
Dustyy
Not so great at slinging it perfectly
Sanded the handles.. but not the bottom yet.

Ahh, didn't get much sanding done today.. just knocked down the rest of the All Metal, no feathering. Got the passenger side welded up though.
Also.. Would this much flake be tacky??
Everything else is already over the top so I dunno... |

I thought that bike was gaudy and not very 'clean'
I also say no to flake... takes away from the clean look and just makes a GOOD paint good look worse... My M3s have like a small amount of pearl? In the paint gives it a nice pop in the sun |

I hope its not actually 'Bondo' brand. That stuff SUCKS. Go to a paint shop, get something else. I cant think of what I use off the top of my head, but its in my shop. Sands A LOT better and last longer.

It's All Metal base with a Rage Gold glaze.
All Metal's basically like filling it with lead, so it's not ***** regular body filler. Even stronger than Durglass even. |
