I was hoping someone on here knew if anyone offers performance upgrades for the 1st gen 3.8L GM engine. It is currently normally aspirated but was wondering if I could put on the supercharger off the supercharged 3.8L or the turbo off of the Buick Grand National. if anyone knows or could find out for me it would be a big help. The only thing I've done so far is add an after market muffler and a cold air intake.

before going into any forced induction i recomend you perfect your I/H/E
you say you already have a CAI, as long as is a good name brand you've completed step 1 try some headers and a free flowing exhaust system before anything else. those alone can net you 30+ HP |

That is actually not the best plan for upgrades on the series 1 3.8. He will not even be close to out flowing his headers as in that gen they were actually pretty good. Exhaust is worthless too unless his cat is clogged as there is no way he is out flowing that either. If you are looking to go forced induction, it is possible on that motor and you can go supercharged. I would say this is the better option as you could use a stock PCM from a supercharged car. You will have more trouble finding someone to tune it if you go a different route. You can check out http://pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/index.php There are a number of series 1 3.8 guys on there. Just be care as some of the admins are real douchebags. If I were you, I would consider a complete drop out series II L67 (L67=supercharged). They have a lot more potential and a larger aftermarket. |

Mine is in a 1988 Buick Park Avenue and is front wheel drive. I was wondering if it was possible if I could get my hands on a 3.8 supercharged, whether or not I could Just replace the computer off the supercharged engine to my car and then put on the supercharger off the other engine onto mine. Didn't know if that was possible.
