What a waste of tax dollars, this is one of those situations where the business should be charged for holding up 3 officers from actually doing something productive.

I laughed.

Is it funny yes?

But why does the tow company have to deal with this kid's **** because he can't park his car in a legit spot?

It's not like he was wronged, he just needs to find a spot on the planet to park legally.

Meh. He paid with legal tender. He did nothing legally wrong. Just morally. lol. I found it hilarious.

Anyone know why they must accept the money? A business does not have to accept money. They can reject someone for whatever reason they want.

Obviously a towing business isn't the same (as they are holding someone elses property). Anyone know what law forces them to accept any payment?

That video was about 8 minutes too long. Pretty good job of keeping a straight face. Reminds me of whaen Tom Green did that in a bar, just dumped a whole bag of pennies on the bar and the bartender about kicked his ass.

I am going to guess this. Any business has the right to not serve any customer for any reason. But since this is a government/state "business" they have no choice but to accept it. It is legal tender in the states. And apparently by law they have to take it. The cop said before he went him to hold on as he was going to check on the law to see if that was legit. And since he forced them to take it, I am assuming it was.

I think I would have printed off a fake document saying that she had to take it and that if she refused it it was punishable by arrest.

I know there are plenty of businesses that can refuse various types of payment, however, I don't believe cash is one of them. They're not required to accept checks or credit cards (and may not have the ability to as well), but seeing as how cash is worth exactly the value that is printed/stamped on it, there is no way they can't accept it. Whether it has to be rolled or not, I'm not sure. I suppose it is possible for there to be a statute saying that at a certain dollar amount, all monetary exchanges must be in bills or rolled coins. Still funny though! biglaugh.gif

Some guy got a ticket and tried paying for it in pennies and got arrested or something, I remember. Absolutely ridiculous things these days.

As a business, you can refuse them service. You aren't refusing to take their money, you're refusing to sell them the item(s) they are paying for. But this doesn't apply to towing as they are in possession of someones property.

cant legally hold the vehicle if he is attempting to pay for it in currency that is accepted in the country.

Tow company loses...start counting.
