is it possible to use the plug already in my trunk attached to a light bulb to attach an led strip to it or will it have to be modified . thanks

Using these, http://www.oznium.com/dummy-bulbs you can easily plug directly in to your existing bulb socket to attach an LED strip.

You can just snip the little white connector off of the dummy bulb and there you go, you have power and ground wires ready for a connection.
