Cool video on the web page...

Won't work for most people since it controls via DMX, but I think the whole design and concept is awesome and worth sharing!!

That thing looks seriously badass, thanks for sharing Corv . icon_biggrin.gif I've been looking high and low for DMX controllers and I'd completely missed this one . I was considering this Traxon controller which is sort of similar in concept but that e.cue controller is serious eye candy compared to the Traxon unit . Did you find a website with prices ? It seems like they only sell to a few retailers and those in the US don't list any prices for direct sale . The Traxon is $600 and I have to guess the e.cue one is even more . Plus it seems like these systems are always designed more to be part of an installation full of their own proprietary hardware and there's not much focus on making it universal, so I'm sure other controllers/drivers/decodes could push the price of an average install into the thousands . icon_cry.gif I guess this stuff isn't for the light of wallet .

I am not sure the pricing of this one yet, they still haven't emailed me back.

Yes the problem with these is that even if they put out a straight DMX signal, you then have to process it and then go to the light. Which will also require a power supply. Professional/commercial lighting is not cheap, but there are some really cool products available.

Hey Corv ! Did they ever get back to you with further pricing info on this thing ? I'm still in the market for a DMX control with a sweet interface like this one and I haven't seen them available for sale except on this site which prices e:cue's glass panels in the 300-450 EU range . icon_cry.gif

As an aside, if the e:cue can't be found for less than around $650 US, check out the SunLite S.T.I.C.K. interface . Its not quite as sexy design-wise as the e-cue model, and its an even bigger punch to the wallet at $899 from the manufacturer but it looks like a more powerful system with features like RS232 support, timed events, audio input, two DMX universes, and (it seems) support software that is much more robust .

Sunlite S.T.I.C.K. main page and manufacturer's brochure.

I did, I just forgot to post it.

Quote:
Robert,

Thank you for taking interest in the e:cue Elite. We actually just got a demo last week on this item, and it is, as you imagined, pretty cool. The elite comes in black or white finish. I am not sure if you are familiar with E:cue past products, but the elite is a standalone DMX controller, which means it no longer requires a separate unit (butler) to control DMX systems. The controller retails for $799 without the software. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Which really isn't out of line for professional lighting controllers. Still f'n expensive for people like us though.

That stick controller looks pretty sweet though. Sadly, unless you get into some serious cash and DJ style controllers I have found nothing that will allow active music control. Almost all of them are just sound triggers. So they won't do **** if you want the lights to beat to music or something.
