I had my eye on the 12" cathodes but it seems everyones transformers give them trouble. im just trying to put some light under the dash. Should i get cathodes or just buy the LED flexable strips? Thanks guys.

You will be a lot happier with LED strips....I had cathodes and they lasted for a while, but I always worried about someone riding with me and their feet hitting the cathodes....The LED strips do not spread the light out, but the 10" piranha bars are awesome and they are only $9 per tube...I recently switched from 2 cathodes under each side to the piranha bars and they are a more true color than the cathodes and I don't have to worry about them breaking....

Finished it a couple of days ago. Everything is perfect, no wires or tubes visible AT ALL! Switch was mounted as clean as can be too.

Here they are.

Also ordered natural white dome led, door leds, and corner leds from superbrightleds but they gave me red ones...

I am going to play with some blue celophane paper to try to get that indigo glow to match the gauges and see if I like it and also getting a dimmer switch ASAP. Wayy too bright at night imo. Still love it though.

Piranha Bars FTW man... Get them. It is also MUCH easier to mount, you can extend them without any transformers as long as you want, the are bright instantly instead of waiting for them to warm up, and they don't get hot at all obviously.

Cathodes= nice even glow ... Cathodes are GLASS and can break if jarred or hit , you mentioned the transformers, The Transformers are supposed to have been taken care of ...
They are harder to mount as you cannot extend the white wires that run from the transformer to the cathodes (or you have to buy a second transformer to allow the proper mounting)

LED's are more flexible , easier to hide thinner ect , allow mounting anywhere just extend wires
they do have some hot spots , very sturdy long life ...
I've got one pirabha bar and it lights the entire rear of the vehicle
