^^^ I am not surprised at all.

If it was up to evans to pick the first fight Kimbo would have been it. Kimbo has all the potential to make a good fighter. He trains hard, wants to be there and wants to learn everything he can. I think Kimbo will be an impressive fighter after the show, he is going to learn a lot. Evans needs to get him to lose now, because after he learns some technique he will be a good fighter.

HERE IT IS BOYS KIMBO FIGHTS TONIGHT! ....

Roy has WAY more experience and is a better well rounded fighter

Slice has more explosive standup and is strong for his size. Has alot of pain tolerance.

Agreed. He looked like **** for a 'street fighter'. Where was his ground game? Just lay there and take some lame ass little girl punches?

I agree it wasn't an amazing fight, but crappy? Nah. There have been WAY worse fights on TUF.

I definitely disagree that Kimbo looked like ****. His standup looked good and the takedowns were well planned. The first time Kimbo overpursued, so Roy was able to trip him. The second time, he caught a knee. That kind of stuff happens, especially to inexperienced fighters.

Now his ground game did suck, but we had to expect that. He couldn't get that big boy off of him, but really, who could? The punches were crap (even Dana made fun of that), but the ref has to stop the fight if he can't defend himself... Regardless, Kimbo will be back. Rampage and Dana both like him

I agree with brandon 100%... Kimbo isnt expected to have an mma style ground game being a street fighter. His standup was good but he just couldnt get that ****** off of him.

You guys really thought his stand up was good? How many did he land? One MAYBE two good ones?

He didn't complete a take down. He didn't MOVE on the bottom. Yeah, the bigger guy was laying his body on him, but still. Move your legs, move around, there are ways to defend yourself.

Could he kick my ass? yes. But I dont claim to be a streetfighter.

Kimbo is huge, he should have been able to get out. No excuse.

Plus he's been training with some of the best trainers in the sport. His **** ground game is due to his ego. He feels like he can just knock someone out like in the streets, guess again.

Do you even watch the **** show?! SERIOUSLY? EVERY GUY ON THE SHOW said Kimbo is the most modest guy they have met and so did kimbo! All he wants is to learn but ppl threw him into the spotlight.

Chris and thatguy one questions for you... Have either of you 2 EVER fought or been put in a crucifix hold where your arms are completely subdued? IT **** SUCKS!!! Plus with that 265 lb belly on his face he didnt have much to work with. Fighting takes so much to be able to do the simplest of transitions and in that weightclass you can get gassed much faster from the muscle mass.

Kimbo did have good standup and landed a few shots, didnt you see at the end of the fight when they declared roy the winner that he had a bruised temple and cheeckbone over his left eye?

Nope, I don't have cable, and no I've never been subjected to the ruthless agony of a crucifix, but I did save a ton of money by switching to gecko.

All I'm sayin is that Kimbo is a better marketing tool than a killing machine.

Does not matter how much bigger the guy is. If he wants to fight smaller people go down a weight class.

The class is what it is. Just because he is bigger does not mean he should have been able to keep him pinned and win. If that was the case each fight the big guy would do the same thing. It takes technique and skill to get the guy down and get him in that position.

Look at the size Difference of Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir. That didn't stop Mir from handling his ground game and getting Lesnar to submit in UFC81.

Size is no excuse, Roy is just a better fighter.

Mir caught Lesnar in a rookie ankle hold. It had much less to do with Mir's skills and more to do with Lesnar's lack of experience.

And to get a guy of that size off of you, it takes serious skill. Not only that, but you have to wait for your opponent to make a mistake that you can capitalize on. I don't care how great you think you are at the ground game, you can't just pick a guy up and throw him off of you. You have to wait for him to be off balance or something so that you can use that against him. If you take two guys with equal talent (I'm not saying Kimbo has the talent of Roy) I can almost guarantee you that whoever is on top, stays on top. That's why its a "dominating position".

Size is not the end-all-be-all, but it does help. I think they had something like 30 lbs between them -- that makes a difference.

Agree, Mir caught that kneebar only because Brock was inexperienced and gave him the chance to grab it.

Roy is a more "well rounded" fighter but not necessarily better. Size DOES have an advantage in fighting, Lesnar is 265 at weigh in's and fighters can REALISTICALLY and easily put on 15 to 25 lbs in one night for the fight. Not to mention the crucifix lock he was in basically digs you deeper in the hole.

Thatguy: Don't need to be a smartass... and if you dont have cable and dont watch fights you obviously dont see that much of Kimbo ANYWAYS so how would you know he's a better market then fighter? Just because his streetfights (which i have seen) got him publicity and he got a shirt deal with "tapout" he is suddenly WAY overrated?

Are you serious? Kimbo is an excellent marketing tool! Why do you think hell be coming back? As if that wasnt staged or anything.

My room-mates watch the show mainly for kimbo. Proof right there the marketing is working.

I think Slice is over rated. His few times on nbc or whatever didnt look good. I respect the decision he made wanting to learn more though. I though he as a douche early on but he seems okay now. idk. I dont pay too much attention.

No I havent been in a fight nor do I care to. Boxing wears me out when I joke around so I know it is tiring. I get that. In order to make it in MMA, especially the UFC, you need to show more effort than what he showed.

The fans were highly disappointed in both directions. He sucked and so did the other guy.

I've seen every fight Kimbo Slice has available on the internet. The only fights he has won were against bouncers for night clubs in back yards and parking lots. And Elite XC??? that was made to show off Kimbo and it backfired completely.

Apparently my lack of knowledge on the topic isn't that obvious.

How would I know that Kimbo Slice is a better marketing tool than a fighter?
If Kimbo slice wasn't on TUF 10 the only reason people would watch it is to watch Rampage Jackson act like an idiot.

Even though it is an MMA show it is still a "reality show". Which means you have no idea what is staged and what is improv.
Look at it this way, they brought Kimbo out last as a surprise contestant, he loses his first fight, and from what I've heard he gets another shot.

Like Brando said no matter what Dana White says Kimbo Slice will be in the UFC.

Funny thing is, he still hasn't done anything besides training with famous people and getting a sponsorship for his viral popularity.

Elite XC DID backfire completely agreed....
Reality show being staged and not staged agreed...
Only reason ppl would watch is Rampage BIG disagree...(not say ppl dont watch just for kimbo)
Dana will be in the UFC as long as he keeps trying, whether he gets "big fights" or any good shots instead of just a "marketing tool" is unknown but DO NOT say he is a **** fighter and he only beats bouncers because he HAS beat actual fighters and i'm willing to bet he wins his next fight if on TUF.

I didn't mean to come off as a Kimbo Slice hater. But he has been given some huge oppurtunities and he hasn't really displayed any signs of a adaptable fighter.

He's old, he is used to doing things his own way. As opposed to a 20 year old going in and actually taking something from his trainers.

Who has he beat?

From what I remember, the season was going to be Light Heavyweights, but it got scrapped last second when Kimbo was released. That's also the reason they only started with 16 fighters instead of 32 like they've been doing (no fighting to get into the house).

Rampage was a coach a few seasons back. He sucked then and he sucks this year. I'm a big Rampage fan (though fading quickly with his new contract issues), but he is a bad coach.

When does this air? I went to the website...is it the "heavyweights" show that airs Wednesdays at 10pm?

I've always loved UFC, I have a bunch of the knockout compilation DVD's, but I have never watched any of their TV shows...just PPV's.

So the show is worth watching?

I really like Marcus. It was probably my favorite on the show. If he can work on his stand up some more he will be a beast. Kimbo looked better than he ever has, has ground game has definitely improved.

I don't care at all for Roy Nelson. Even though he won all the time, he just seemed way too ****.

I don't think Marcus has a chance in the UFC. He just has no chin, can not take a punch at all.
Mitrione on the other hand I think is a good fighter and has a lot of potential.

I was really disappointed with the Kimbo fight. Besides the second round where Kimbo dominated it was really boring...... He definitely won that fight though, and looked pretty good.

Big Country was really impressive the last few weeks. I think he is the best fighter in the house and I am excited to see him fight some UFC fighters.

Meh... i like Marcus alot i agree with him that if he can improve his standup he will be ALOT more to worry about... He wont be a "Brock Lesnar" rank of amazing but he'll be a solid fighter!

The kimbo fight was a good fight to me! Very boring but that was because Houston didnt wanna go in swinging without a gameplan like he has done before and gotten DESTROYED...

Roy Nelson is a **** ****** ****... i hate him and REALLY agree with Dana White that once he has a good fight that HE has made good then i'll give him more credit.

Im pretty sure HE made that fight good?

HE ended up winning due to a KO. How else could he have made it better?

Afterall, he is just a fat guy. biglaugh.gif

I like him, he didnt seem **** at all during his interview. Lesnar on the other hand...
