and this car smoked the cobalt. so please, if you have every bolt on on that car id love to drive a meet and race.

I thought you said the cobalt beat the stang?

Whoever's GT that is, they sound like a complete DUMB ASS!!! First, there's no "bigger wires" on the car. It has COP, not a distributor w/ wires. Second, the stock MAF is more than enough for full bolt-ons. That only needs to be replaced if going FI. I'm supprised he didn't change out his injectors as well. icon_rolleyes.gif
Lastly, who the **** cares how much power he has in the engine b/c he can't put it to the pavement.

If you really want to know what I have in the engine:
* JTL CAI
* 75mm Accufab TB
* Trickflow Plenum
* Steeda UD pullies
* BBK LT headers (shorties don't do **** for these cars)
* BBK O/R H-pipe
* Flowmaster Super 44 w/ 2.5" piping
* Cams designed for the stock heads: 234/230 Dur, 111 seperation, .550/.500 lift
* Tuned, 310rwhp & 316rwtq
* 4.10 Gears
* 31 spline
* MOST IMPORTANT: FULL SUSPENSION.

I drop the clutch from 5500rpm and don't roast the tires b/c of the suspension. If I put a 100 shot, I bet I could be into the 11s after a couple runs (or DAMN close). Is there more potential from the car? Yes. Do I want anything more? No. I believe I've got a good balance of power and reliability.

boosted cars are very fun icon_smile.gif

i've owned a 92 eclipse gst and a 91 gsx. the gst was pretty much completely stock, still ran nice. the gsx was kinda modded. it has full hard piping, greddy bov, evo 16g, greddy intercooler, 2g pistons (8.5:1 compression vs 7.8:1) full turbo back exhaust, ect... the stock gst ran fine, the gsx broke down a lot, it was the stereotypical dsm...

my brother just recently sold his 95 gst, even more mods than my gsx. his had a ton of **** done to it. broke down allll the time. he finally sold it because it was such a money pit... another stereotypical dsm.

although i haven't had any luck with dsms i've read about a lot of people that have. it's kinda of a hit or miss thing. it also depends how you treat it of course, if you abuse it, of course stuff is gonna break, just like any other car. just seems like dsms like to break more lol

good luck with it though! post some pics when you get it

Dunno If i should ACTUALLY boost it. Or slap on one of those ones that LOOKS like a turbo but is belt driven. Centrifugal Supercharger?

Lies.

There was a boosted S10 at camp & drag. He's on S10 forum. Go to event section, and look for "Camp and Drag" - he's on like page 9/10.

HUGE intercooler behind valance. Heard the BOV at the show as well. Videos of him on youtube burning out like a madman.

It blows my mind how little most people know about dsm's. ANY car is susceptible to crankwalk, the amount of actual reported cases is 2% or less. Problem is anytime one dies(regardless of actual reason why said car failed) people ALWAYS jump to the conclusion of cw. Cw is more prominent in late 2g build date cars (general consensus is 50% of all cw cars were '97 and early '9icon_cool.gif so by saying "i have a 1g it wont happen to me" is a false sense of security to have. If you take care of them, they will return the favor. I personally have owned 4 dsms ( 90, 91, 95 tsi awds and a 97 gst) and never had one issue that i wasnt at fault for, i,e blowing tcases launching etc.

Anyway lol what are you planning to do modwise with it?

The guy sold it from under me icon_cry.gif

But i alreadyfound another one. picking it up monday...

Its a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI FWD.

It has a 20g turbo
Tubular manifold
HKS EVC 5 boost controller

Thats about it.

I already have a ported 02 housing, 3 inch downpipe, and a FMIC kit ordered for it =]

I am going to put on my autometer sportcomp II boost guage, and AEM wideband.

Plans are to keep the 20g, run 550cc injectors, a walboro 255 fuel pump, and DSM link and shoot for over 350hp for right now.

next semester ill be running a holset =]

A holset and fwd? like spinning tires? lol the hx35 i would presume. What 20g is on it? if its a ******* 20g thats a 450whp turbo. Why not find a awd man?

Just didn't want a awd talon. I like FWD and im not building it to be a drag car so i don't need it to have that kind of launching capabilities.

Hx-35 maybe. If not ill be going with a garrett setup. Yes it's a ******* 20g haha. i'll be keeping it for a while.

Dollar for dollar the holsets w/ bullzeye housings are hard to beat. Dont get me wrong, i love the gt35r i have on my 1g now, but i could have saved ALOT by going the holset route. I couldnt go back to fwd, i wouldnt trade awd launches for anything lol btw might as well go bigger then 550cc injectors since your going the link 'route, itll save you $$ in the long run.

Thanks for the advice.

Thought about going with 1000cc's haha. Might just have to.

I'm not much of a launch person. Everyone around here does hwy runs. So i'm good there haha. I don't drag race i just want a fun car as a weekend warrior. so AWD wasn't a huge factor for i guess you could say.

very true. I always get reemed for driving FWD. But it's what am used to and it's what i know how to drive best. So i stayed with it.

And i have a GTI VR6 as my daily. icon_biggrin.gif

Just ready to start modding. However the talon which has the 20g is only making 10.5lbs of boost. And he has the EVC turned to 98% so it should be making a WHOLE lot more.

Any ideas where this boost could be leaking at? I was thinking the **** stock BOV or somewhere in the stock intercooler setup.

if it is that i have a FMIC kit coming with a greddy type S BOV.

Build a boost leak tester, it shouldnt run you more then $8 to make. Common places are around the bov flange, ic piping couplers, the ic itself, and around the tb.
