Hello experts,

I'm thinking of designing some LED driving lights like foglights but for additional offroad lights.

I already have a Xmitter LED light bar. It uses about 30 3mm LED's in a metal housing.
I was thinking of replacing the 3mm LED's with superflux LED's but am hesitant in messing with the light, it was expensive and I'm an electrics novice.

I want to make a simple plate of 24 superflux prewired LED's (to supplement my Xmitter) It will not have a reflector bowl for each LED, just mounted on a flat plate. I'm comfortable doing basic wiring.

Will this project enough light to light up the road & trail in front of me? Looking at the website, it's hard to tell how much light the superflux LED's project to illuminate the road in front of you.
The intense LED glare is not a concern, these will be used offroad.

Thanks for any help and advice!

Without the reflectors on each LED you're going to need a lot of LEDs

I have 20 red superflux LED's in my rollpan. They are exceedingly bright like..up to 15 feet away. But you will DEF need the reflector bowls. Since a lot of the superflux's light goes every which way.

TIR optics have less loses than cheap reflectors...FYI

You should use 4-6 Cree MC-E's icon_twisted.gif

HAHAA

The DIMMEST "cool" bin is around 370 lumens at 350mA

Superflux may be around 120ish.

But by your response it is obvious you are not familiar with the MC-E. You should really google it first.
