After much heated debate, and me getting paranoid as ****..2012 comes up. Could this be the end of the world, I highly doubt it. After reading this article, I am even more paranoid though. Tell me what you all think though, end of the world, or not. I don't want to change this into a heated debate or some ****. I think this chick that wrote this has something going on here..

Skimming through posts and blogs, I've read that 2012 is the date of this world's end (as we know its). I at first thought this was just some paranoid joke. As I continue to research the matter and talk to friends about the matter, I realize it's everywhere. I noticed that 2012 is the year of the next presidential election, so I thought then that maybe by "end of the world" the people that posted that date meant a countrywide change.

After looking further into the matter, I soon found out about a tenth "planet" that enters our atmosphere every 3,600 years that was discovered December, 30th 1983. The tenth "planet" also known as planet X. This planet is four to five times the size of earth and one hundred times as dense, giving it greater gravitational pull. Every 3,600 years as it passes it does not collide with the planet but it does affect the earth greatly.1600 B.C. was the last time this took place. The planet is already on its way towards us, so Earth’s plates will shift again. It's also believed that the Earth’s rotation may actually stop for three days. If this were to happen there would be huge earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricane force winds, and meteor showers from debris brought with "planet" X's tail. With such a tremendous gravitational pull scientists can do nothing about it. Scientists believe that 70% of Earth’s population will not survive, 20% percent will starve to death and 10% will survive.

With this information now in mind, I no longer believe that the problem could be as trivial as a political change. I continue to look past the scientific proof and look towards the religious proof of 2012. I, being non-denominational towards religion, believe there is a greater being outside of our ranges and I’ve have heard about the end of the world before. The apocalypse that is said to come in the Christian bible is supposed to come after seven years of peace (which we definitely have yet to have).

Of course, 2012 B.C. is the year the Myan's ever famous calendar stops. Could this be how the Myan civilization really ended? Could this be a consistent reset for earth to help evolve our planet? Maybe the answer to that question, "What really happened to the dinosaurs?"

I honestly am not sure but I’ve yet to read any articles on the matter, so I figured I would put my input in.

This all comes down to a lovely quote my brother told me, "Live life to the absolute fullest no one makes it out alive." If 2012 is an apocalyptic end, there is still much change to come. It's your choice if you chose to believe this or not, I just wanted to put the matter out there and hopefully get some of you thinking.

How are "not survive" and "starve to death" separate? If you starve, you didn't survive...

My biggest 2012 worry is that people will freak out because is 2012, and make it a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I said it was a article, now answer the question please. Please read before you post. Thanks. I thought it was a interesting article. Yes, that first block was me typing.

"Planet X" is not going to swing by and stop the earth's rotation, that is hooey . If you stopped the earth's rotation for 3 days, exactly how do you think it would start rotating again ? And 'enter our atmosphere' ? An astral body ten times the size of earth that entered its atmosphere would just collide with it .

The Mayan calendar doesn't predict the end of the world on 2012 as the current descendants of the Maya will tell you . (Hype) . Also, how would the Maya have been eliminated by the last passing of Planet X when you site its passing as occurring every 3600 years ? That would put the end of the Mayan civilization at 1600 BC, right ? Also the dinosaurs have been extinct for way longer than 3600 years, so how did humans survive the numerous passings of 'Planet X' that causes catastrophe powerful enough to globally kill a whole group of species ?

"For earth to help evolve our planet ?" Earth IS our planet, what is this supposed to mean ?

People love apocalyptic scenarios, I realize this . As a culture we're always fixated on some soon-to-come end of the world prophecy (Y2K anyone ?) . But if you wanna worry about the future worry about pollution or global warming or the absence of critical resources or something, not this BS .

Wikipedia: Harrington died in January 1993, without having found Planet X. Six months before, Myles Standish used data from Voyager 2's 1989 flyby of Neptune, which had revised the planet's total mass downward by 0.5%an amount comparable to the mass of Marsto recalculate its gravitational effect on Uranus. When Neptune's newly determined mass was used in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Developmental Ephemeris (JPL DE), the supposed discrepancies in the Uranian orbit, and with them the need for a Planet X, vanished. Moreover, there are no discrepancies in the trajectories of any space probes such as Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 that can be attributed to the gravitational pull of a large undiscovered object in the outer Solar System. Today, most astronomers agree that Planet X, as Lowell defined it, does not exist.

This is a size comparison of the largest known objects floating around past Neptune, none of which approach an object five times the size of earth, nor 100x as dense . (Are there even planetary bodies of that size that are 100x as dense ? Even that sounds doubtful .)

Here's a crazy point to think of!!! Myan's priest made a calendar for a certain amount of years. It was never declared as the end of time, just the end of the planned calendar. Like when a schedule is made for work, they might hire and fire ten people next month but Bob from accounting still has Tuesday off to take his mother to dialysis.

I actually have a friend who took his money out of investments and is spending it because he thinks hes going to die.

Playboy actually had a great article on a guy who is prepared for 2012.

They lost credability when they said TENTH planet. Obviously the person who wrote this is ill-informed as we currently only have EIGHT planets.

Nasa reports above average sun flare activity, but nothing to harm the world, nasa also knows that our solar system will come in line with the galatic plane of the galaxy which speculates something different will happen, but there are no recorded events on what happened last time it crossed so they don't know. Thats what I made out of what I watched/read.

Err I should aslo mention/ask the fact that if information wasn't so easily passed from one person to another now a days I.e(internet, phone,tv,newspaper) would you of still heard about it?

Link or article for this above average solar flare activity?

Sun spots and solar flares are directly related and have a positive coorelation. There are TONS of charts that all show the same thing, sun is very inactive right now.

An object five times the size of earth and 100 times more dense barrelling through the solar system would cause an effect on ALL of the planets similar to breaking a triangle of billiard balls with a que ball. If this were to happen every 3600 years like your article says, the eight planets plus pluto (it was number nine when I was in school icon_wink.gif ) that we so dearly love, would have been scattered to the stars a millenia ago.

It was wiki source maybe I read it wrong ill look it up.

i sure did misread they were talking about the suns magnetic poles flipping

On the sun, the solar maximum of Solar Cycle 24 in the 11-year sunspot cycle is forecast to occur. Solar Cycle 24 is regarded to have commenced January 2008, and on average will reach its peak of maximal sunspot activity around 2012. The period between successive solar maxima averages 11 years (the Schwabe cycle), and the previous solar maximum of Solar Cycle 23 occurred in 2000–2002.[13] During the solar maximum the sun's magnetic poles will reverse.[14]

Even though I dont beleave most of the hype, I do think the world is in horrible shape... So do I think the world will end, no. I do think major changes will happen in the next 10-20 years, most not by choice but because we as a race will have to in order to survive in the long run.

However I do love watching all the specials on History channel, im on vacation this week and its nice to have something I can record at night and watch when I get up.

The good news about the 2k38 bug is that when we fix it (by upgrading to a 64-bit architecture) we'll be good until "Sunday, December 4, 292,277,026,596 AD". P.S. I love that someone went and looked up what day of the week that will be biglaugh.gif
