If you don't have a problem with pre-owned, you can get hella deals on ebay. My original system in my vette was worth about $6K and by buying pre-owned (classic alpine) equipment and doing the work myself, i paid about $2000 out of pocketf for everything.

Based on your budget Here's what i'd look for:

Head unit: $100-150

Component speakers: $50-100 Chek out Alpine's Type-S series.

2 12's: you'll need pre-owned def about $200 Older JL and rockford subs are rather deceent.

Sub Enclosure: local flea market, you can pick them up for $20-25 no joke!

Amp: $100 preowned older models. I like the old Rockford punch/power amps myself.

Wiring: $25-50 depending on what components you get. You'll get a better deal
buying the wiring parts seperatly than in a kit especially if you go to an install shop that sells wire by the foot or similar. Some shops have "scrap" piles you can get some decent power wire from for cheap

It is do-able

I have an amp and some wires listed in the b/s/t forum that might help you out.

Radio, he didn't say he was needing a headunit.

Be careful getting a random sub box, make sure it's got the proper airspace etc. I don't know how much variance there are between sub brands.

Schweeet, that's $100 more in his budget.

If you get a Sealed sub box and fill it with fiberfill, it will simulate a larger box and you don't need to worry as much about stuff like porting and tuning. Airpsace is always important, but with sealed boxed it's not as critical that it be super accurate for decent sound.

This is a poorly titled thread.. $600 doesn't buy a dream system . The question is: what's the best I can do for $600. icon_lol.gif Radio's right, look into pre-owned gear . And also, at least burn the calories to look up your speaker size before you post on a new forum and ask people to make shopping lists for you . icon_confused.gif

dream systems don't have limits... Also if you're looking to fit into the 600 buck window I'd suggest not going with components for simple reason that higher end 2/3/4-way speakers will get you the same effect at alower cost and not leave you unhappy with un-amped components...

From when I looked, you can get a decent set up with the 600buck tag with new equipment:

Components: Kicker KS60.2 - $100 (free shipping)
Subs+Box+Amp: Kicker Comp VR Dual 12" in portedbox and amp - $470(free shipping)
Wiring kit: AudioPipe 4ga kit - $30(free ship)

Grand total - $600... not the best of setups but I'd be damned happy with it for the budget

Suggestion, If you go with a single sub you might be able to afford a good 4-ch amp. The you can bridge channels 3/4 to the sub and run the components off 1 and 2. It also give you expansion options later should you decide to go with an active crossover.

uhzz...baller status on a 600 dollar budget? PSH

Why dont you just start out getting pieces at a time..or wait till you have more money. Dont wanna waste the money on buying something used that might break and have no warranty a week later
