Yeah, so my laptop broke, kinda **** right now. I have an hp dv2700t thats about 2 years old and i guess from being my in my briefcase with all my books it got crushed some how. I dont know how tbh, i assume thats it. I have been doing this for 2 years and this is the first issue. Im really ****, i have less than 2 months till grad and it cost me 430 bux to get it fixed. In the grander scheme is suppose it isnt too bad, the price includes tax and shipping both ways as well as them fixing whatever else is dying or needs to be fixed. I also get to keep my current hdd which i am taking out so i can upload everything to my tower. Also have about a 7 day turn around which is pretty awesome. My main reason of having it is for school and i drive a half hour to get there so this is kind of my home away from home and keeps me busy during downtime and what not. RARBLE!!!

On a good note, i started my new job making more so it should help pay for it.

Damn, that laptop runs around $400 brand new. I've seen several sales at BB for this laptop, or one very similar.

its a great laptop, i bought it online from hp customized and it was the special edition, it ran me 1250 and i paid around 1150 i think for it cause i found a 100 off coupon. Im quite picky about this stuff so it cost alot more.

BB and other stores like that have premade models that they buy from hp so all the stores have the same couple models but ususaally varies from like bb to costco. Generally, they boast a 500gig hdd but like a **** core, i just couldnt get exactly what i wanted from a store like that.

I understand that.

What were the specs of your laptop? You bought a laptop for 1150 two years ago? Congrats, a $400 today is just as good, if not better. You know what your doing though, I'm sure you've shopped around.

i didnt even bother tbh, i happen to be very satisfied with this laptop overall. I would buy from HP, it would be a 14.1 inch screen, doesnt have a battery sticking out the back. Maybe it wasn't 2 years ago, maybe it was a bit under that. I am almost done with school and its not my main rig. core 2 duo 2.2ghz 2 gig ram, vista 32 bit 160 gig hdd, integrated graphics. I was planning to upgrade the ram and go to a win 7 64 bit in the future. It was basically for taking notes, mild game use, web surfing. It took me along time to decide on the laptop i wanted so it's just one of those things. Kinda like that 70's car that needs to die but you love it too much.

My tower is where i get super picky, thats a diff story though.

My friend just picked up a netbook for $325 w/ the same specs given except for HD space (250GB) and it has XP.

I like it so far. I kept my eyes open for a long time before I found enough discounts to make me jump on it. The screen is bigger than I wanted and I hate that its glossy, but besides that it seems to be pretty nice.

Not a 14" screen but the processor speed and ram were the same as he listed. I think it only weighs 2.5 lbs. It's a pretty sweet little computer.

I have not seen any netbook with speeds anywhere near core 2 duos. Mind throwing out a link to one PwrRngr? Would like to see what the prices are vs the netbooks running atoms.

What did they say was wrong with it and what are they fixing? For $430 I am assuming a new motherboard is going in?

So why not just buy a new laptop?

wow, I guess thats not bad if its a motherboard. But anything else can be fixed for much much cheaper.
