That's it. I'm sick of not riding my motorcycle everytime the snow flies. Time to do another mod project...

I put little screws in my treads on my dirtbike tires. They got torn up way quicker after taking the screws out though.

I'd trailer it to the frozen lakes. Plow a track. Ride.

And it JUST started snowing. It won't stick.

These would be dedicated ice tires, never to be used on the road again.

The ones I had the screws were thru the tires and nutted on the outside then you had a liner that was spongy ( to protect the tube from the bolthead) , and had to run Tubes in them ... They were a blast on the frozen lakes they had sanctioned races ... the trouble was if someone got loose and came into you those spikes would screw you up pretty quickly and eat up your leathers bad and flesh worse ... Buddy's still sporting scars from that 10 years ago , look like he was attacked by wolverine puppy_dog_eyes.gif

Verticle Mischief here in Wisco is best known for their Ice Stunting, made it on suberbikes last year and all that jazz. Ice riding is COLD

It started snowing a bit here in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin today. Heck, if it isn't stuck to the ground the Goldwing will still be out there.
When I was younger we used to race on the Fox Lake & River. Didn't mind falling & racing my bike to see which would stop first. What I didn't like was the sudden soft spots or holes or the other persons spikes across parts of my body!

Props to you. I took her out today for a little bit. The cold doesn't bother me that much yet(it isn't exactly terribly cold yet though) but I am more concerned with my tire and the ground not being warm enough and it just slipping out on me. Then again I am always scared of that. I don't trust my tires that much. When I get new ones I will be more ballsy with it.

Don't lay that R6 down tho duder. That bike is ****.

Actually, I got rid of my R6 and picked up a white/silver 2007 CBR 600RR. Fresh canvas for a whole bunch of mods... including ice tires! biglaugh.gif

But you're right... the colder it gets (not so much the ambient air temp, but the temp of the riding surface) the hard it will be for the tires to heat up properly... meaning poor traction.

Aside from Sugarloaf Mountain (which is weak in comparison), you guys have nothing but straight line roads. Probably the worst roads in the US if you're any kind of decent sportbike rider.

Florida is garbage.

But yes... you get to ride year round icon_twisted.gif

Driving in Afghanistan is easier than driving in Florida with all the old crazies out there in their 4-wheelers.
I know this because a couple of them are my relatives!!!

If you ain't ridin' safe, you shouldn't be ridin'!

Good call. Can never be too careful. Everyone is out to get you. Unless you're on a frozen lake...
