I'm looking for a way to play music from my Touch over my car speakers. I was using a tape deck adapter but now after a few seconds ERR 99 displays on the LCD and it kicks the tape out. I'm just using the stock CD/cassette player so I was thinking about a FM transmitter. Wondering if anyone has used one and knows a good brand.

I have this dlo that I use occasionally and it works pretty well.

I picked it up cheap at wal-mart a long time back.

My cousin has one that works exceptionally well, but not exactly sure of what brand, etc, but I can found out for you.

I use the Belkin Tunebase FM in the truck, Highlander can use the AUX cord.

http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=390447

Great unit, great mount, great features.

Although I will say you should probably look into fixing your current problem. Maybe its the deck or you need a new tape adapter. Either way, you are going to get WAYY better sound using the tape deck adapter than an FM transmitter. Especially in bigger cities where you can get interference and such. Just a thought icon_smile.gif

One of my buddies has one of these, works great. He has it in his truck. He has a computer sub hooked up to it also.

I tried buying a new tape adapter and it still kicks out an error. I don't want to replace the whole damn thing though, because the radio works fine and so does the CD Player. Oh well.

I use the one that iRiver sells: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/pr...RowID=303&CS=iriver&All=

I think I bought 2 of them on woot for a good deal. I use one, my mom and I both use em and love em.

You're going to get sub par sound quality from any FM transmitter. Only so much information can be passed through them and you'll lose a lot.

IF he was happy with the tape adapter the FM should be at least = to the Sound quality (If not better) ..
I picked up the Iriver as well on Woot (Two for Tuesday deal) ... I think it was $19.95+$5 shipping

Direct/tape deck will always be crisper and reproduce more accurately because wirelessly modulated sound won't modulate the full range of acoustics. I would suggest getting a tape-deck head cleaner as it might be that your heads are reading the tape as being at the end on both sides, and failing to find a new intro tic, is simply ejecting the tape as being faulty.
Another option is to pull the stereo unit out and direct wire a connection to it. There are numerous kits that will allow you to do this or you can go to most advanced auto/sound shops with install bays to have it done properly.

Good idea. I've used a FM transmitter and currently a tape and tape is WAAAAY better.
It's always white noise free.

My tape adapter was far noisier then the FM ... I figured that converting it to music to be picked up by the tape head then back to music induced more noise then direct input to the FM antenna ...

Does your stock head unit suport a CD changer ??? You can get a "Dice" adapter that uses the changer input to control /run the ipod I have this in my mini cooper even uses the steering wheel controls for tracks ect ...

Did you even **** read my post? I'm using the stock radio. It doesn't have RCA inputs/outputs on it. That would be useless for me. I also don't have a monitor.

wow...that's a great way for me not only to not offer any help in the future, but also a great way for me to cheerfully extend middle finger and grin while saying gtfo.

"Trying to help?" I'm sorry but he wasn't trying to help. He suggested an option that I not only had no use for, and couldn't use it if I did.

One of these may work for you, it goes in between your antenna and your factory stereo, then you plug your music source into the 3.5mm jack.

just to clarify, when someone suggests something in response to a question, that is called "trying to help." If it isn't what you were looking for or won't work, then a simple "that's not what I had in mind but thanks anyway" would do nicely. That you respond to people in this manner speaks volumes about your level of maturity and that you are so used to getting away with being a complete vulva chewer means you act in here, the way you wouldn't dare act in person. Whoever **** in your cornflakes, take it up with them and just f'n be cordial if you can't be nice. I didn't know if you were responding to the other guy or me, but that shouldn't matter should it? I come here because I love the product and like to offer/receive input and ideas from others. After 15 years on the streets, I'm so used to snotty brats that their incessant mouthing off is just a buzzing noise in my ears now. But when I offer an idea, thinking I'm dealing with people at least mature enough to have learned the simple concept of "thank you"...only to find I've dared to irk some snot-nosed brat and have him all but tell me to fugoff as thanks for my trying to help....it's just lame and it just **** me off...

rant over

you just have to realize that some people on the Internet are ****. There are certain people on here that I won't help for that reason. Instead of ranting, just ignore them and don't help in the future.
