ok, so heres the story....i was coming up to a well known intersection, butterfield and rt 59, i was turning RIGHT on a red light, i pulled up to the light, HAD to stop cause there was a car coming so i couldnt turn onto "59" so i stopped waited about 10 seconds then went cause it was clear. now it is a "photo enforced light" and as soon as i got 1/2 way through the turn, i see a flash(its at night BTW) now there was NO signs as of this date 10/14/2009 that were clearly visible/visible at all. i did not see ANY, i have 20/20 vision, if there were some i would have seen them cause i was looking for THEM. now idk if it got me or another guy crossing the intersection. but if it turns out to be me, am i right that i have done nothing illegal? i made a COMPLETE stop, looked for signs, then when it was clear i made a RIGHT turn.

any ideas how to fight this besides state the facts? and i was also in my dads car, not mine.

It depends on the law in your area. Some states do not allow right hand turns on red lights.

Go back to the intersection and take pictures of everything. Take pictures of any signs and take pics of any lack of signs. Bring them ALL into court. If there is truly no signs posted that are easily visible you should easily get it dropped.

Company got shut down ... It's a freshnel lense viewed straight on you see no distortion , but when the flash hits it from an angle it shows about 1/2 the plate and they won't bother trying to get the rest... I'm sure there's others around if you hunt

My buddies a cop and brought home a picture of me blowing thru a red light ,camera caught me (and YES I KNEW the camera was there my escort was telling me), said here thought you'd like to see it , I recognized the car but couldn't see the plate on it ...

Have you even gotten the ticket yet? If not then i'd say your over reacting for nothing.

In STL they flash for all right on reds. Many dont know this. Why would they flash for all? Because these intersections roll constant video and when the light is triggered the camera makes a file with 30seconds before and after the light flash's along with the snapshots, When the officer logs in to check the cameras he/she has to watch all the videos and determine weather or not a law was broken and if so what tickets to issue. Its not as simple as some think, the camera does not issue the ticket, the officer does and just because it flashed does not mean your getting a ticket.

It might just take a picture in case you are running a red light. When they see you were turning perhaps it won't be a ticket?

EDIT:
Posted to late, looks like a much better explanation above, mine was just a guess.

have you received the ticket in the mail yet?

Usually they have false readings all the time. Just because it took a picture doesn't mean you will get a ticket. Most cities use a private company to send several pictures of the incident as well as a video of the intersection. If you did come to a complete stop then the ticket will most likely not even be issued.

Technically you are required to stop BEHIND the white line, but if you took it to court most judges would throw it out.
