im going to be hooking up a total of (6) 5mm prewired LEDS and (2) 3mm prewired LEDS.

does this wiring layout seem like it would work? i dont want any LEDS lighting up poorly.

if that diagram wouldnt work. heres a blank diagram...

ive heard something of wiring parallel and in a series? i have an idea being said the words "parallel" and "series", but just not to sure on the difference.

would a 18 gauge wire work with this? i have some wire from my other installs and it would be nice not having to get more.

thanks in advance for the help!!

Since they are PREWIRED with resistors all of them needs to be in Parrallel ....
Meaning + connected to the next Positive and so on and so on
and the - connected to the next negative and so on and so on

Your diagram looks fine except that you don't have a fuse . That's not needed if you're planning to tap into the fusebox with an add-a-fuse type plug that comes with a fuse, but if you're going to connect the power somewhere else you should add a fuse to the positive wire .

The difference between parallel wiring and series wiring is pretty basic: Trace the positive and negative wires from one LED back to the power source (battery in this case) . If you MUST pass -through- another LED on the way to the power source, then the two are wired in series . If both wires on each LED can be traced back to the battery -without- having to pass through another LED, then you have parallel wiring .

Although your diagram looks different than this one because you have the wires branching off to each LED sort of like tree branches, if you follow the wires in your picture you'll see that, while some LEDs occasionally share a wire, you can trace a route from the LED back to the power source on each without having to go -through- another LED, therefore you have drawn up a diagram for parallel wiring, which is how you want to install it . icon_biggrin.gif

18 gauge wire will be just fine for this installation . Make sure you share pics when its done . icon_biggrin.gif
