I want to make daytime running lights for my corvette. I'm thinking of using 3 or 4 superflux 4 chip leds on each side of the grill. I just need something to mount them in that would fit in between the ribs in the grill (about 5/8 inch space between ribs). One idea was a piece of acrylic/plexiglass 1/2 inch thick x maybe 3 inches wide x 1 inch deep. Can anyone suggest another material to use about 1/2 inch thick that would be waterproof?

starboard marine lumber. Comes in various colors, thicknesses and textures and can be cut, sanded, molded and even heat-bent into any shape you desire. Holds it's strength in even very small form uses and is 100% water and mold proof. Road grim wipes right off with 409.

Does this material absolutely have to be 1/2" thick,or can it be thinner? icon_neutral.gif

Well, the LEDs require a 3/8 inch hole so 1/2 is probably as thin as I can use. icon_smile.gif

Just asking, because I've installed superfluxes on a sheet of black textured abs plastic as thin as 1/16" with great results. icon_cool.gif Just drill your holes so the l.e.d.s fit nice and snug, then seal them up from the backside with some black hot glue. icon_wink.gif

^^Here's where I purchase sheets of black abs.

Edit: Nevermind,I kinda skimmed over your measurement,so my suggestion wouldn't be of much help.
