Tonight i'm with a few friends and we go to another friends appartment. A friend and grow tired of sitting there and go grab a bite to eat, before we know it its 12 and our other friend calls to go pick her up. We only have drive less then a mile.

lets take it back about a week, I walk out of school and someone has run into my car and just left (last friday). No information or anything.

Seeing how theres a curfew on teenage drivers with their POP license you can't be out past midnight. A cop pulls me over for my headlight being out (driver side) which i could not believe seeing how i got hit on the right front corner of my car. Runs me through a feild sobriety test because my eyes were red, i wear contact lenses and my eyes are irritated (not to mention me being irritated that i got pulled over 5 minutes past curfew), he was being a **** the whole time. Tried calling both of our parents and no1 answered, red flag right there (MY PARENTS TRUST ME ENOUGH THAT THEY AREN'T WAITING FOR ME TO COME HOME)

Fast forward, i finally get home and he's cruising by my house, slowly. Why not go fight off all those evil broken headlight bandits, huh?

a curfew makes no sense to me personally.. better then having the kids drive when there's nobody around then 11 at clock when theres still a good number of traffic.

sorry, i had to rant on this.

what are your **** cop stories?

That sucks. What I want to know, is did you get a ticket? And if so, what for exactly?

the high beam on the light works... which doesn't exactly makes sense to me since its 1 bulb.

Some bulbs are dual filament. One of the filaments break (usually the one that is on, since it's hot).

Anyways, if you didn't be a ticket, I wouldn't worry about it TOO much. I know it sucks, but if he REALLY wanted to be a **** he could slap you with a fix-it ticket, curfue ticket... hell, he could tow the car, and hold you at city/county/juvy lock-up until your parents show up.

A lot of teens, and of course, adults end up drinking and driving. If you drive between 11pm and 3am (an hour after barclose is here) expect to get pulled over for ANYTHING. Busted tail light, headlight, license plate light, etc. They do it to check up on drunk drivers, and if they pull one off the road for it, great. As long as they let the innocent go with a "warning" for whatever reason they used to pull you over.

Point is, if they let you off with a warning just say "Thank you Officer, I really appreciate it" and try to sound sincere.

If you had gotten the ticket, I'd tell you to fight that ****. Bring a parent with you, and plead not guilty til the end. The thing that sucks, you both have to take school/work off to do it. But never, ever, ever just lay down for a ticket.

i'm going in tomorrow to get my OP which extends my curfue till 2. i did say thanks and drove off.. i figured he was just on his period or something. I know it could have been worse but the simple fact that he went straight to my house to make sure i went home just kinda set me off, since i had to take some1 home accross town.

Your whole drunk driving thing makes sense, i plan to get the light fixed in the morning.

I was driving home at about 10PM when I was 17 and 1 mile from my house. I was coming back from the lake and still had my swimsuit on. I had my left headlight out at the time (same thing, low beam but not high beam). A car turns out the road ahead going the opposite direction so I turn off my high beams. The car passes me, turns around, and pulls me over for a headlight out.

He asks for my license and registration. I get the registration and go to get my license......still in my pants at the lake. Then I had to wait about 1/2 hour while he ran all my information I gave him to prove that I am myself. I should have left my brights on the whole time. icon_confused.gif

Not really a big deal and it was years ago. At the time I thought, "do you guys have better things to do than turn around and pull someone over for not having a headlight?"

Being in the small town of Oak Harbor, whose occupancy is at least half military, there are a lot of stories and issues. There's also somewhere around four (counting base police) police departments that have jurisdiction in a town that's maybe 5 square miles in size. Compared to Houston, it's itty bitty.

Anyhow, I've got a decent laundry list of stories, but we'll cliff-notes them for easy reading.
1) Pulled over the day I lifted the Jeep. No flares, no mudflaps. My bad, didn't know. But the woman kept me there for over 45 minutes, just sitting in her cruiser. Was late for watch, which despite my calling the instant I was pulled is NOT good. Any military peep here can vouch for that

2) Pulled in the Jeep after kicking the lift up another 1.5". I also swapped my headlights and wiring for something brighter (sealed-beam sylvania silverstars), and made it a priority to aim them properly so I'm not that **** in the lifted rig with bright lights blinding everyone. I get pulled at night, probably around 7pm. Cop takes my stuff, returns to cruiser. Returns to Jeep and asks me to get out and look with him. Takes out a measuring tape, and measure my bumpers, head- and tail-lights. Then he proceeds to call for a tow-truck. While waiting, he informs me that my Jeep is waaaay out of regulations for it's classification. Turns out in Washington, my Cherokee is a station-wagon due to weight, construction, 6-cyl, and 5-doors. I was a good 13 inches higher than the max allowed for a 'wagon.
Fought it in court and the judge dropped it without me even having to present my side of things. Never did manage to get re-imbursed for the tow and impound fee though... Far shot anyways.

This one, I can't Cliff-Notes... Needs the full shebang
3) Pulled on the motorcycle about a week after we moved into our new neighborhood. Pulled up at a stop sign, looked left - clear. Looked right - clear, and also noticed the statie sitting on the shoulder, facing the opposite direction. I signal and proceed. I barely get to 2500rpm in first before he's on me with siren and cherries. Pulled over, turned off the bike, set it on the stand and got off to stand beside it. Gets over the bullhorn yelling for me to get back on, so I complied. Finally comes up, I get off and take off my helmet, and he yells at me in mid-helmet removal to 'get my ass back on the bike. Did I tell you to get off?' Sheesh. I sit back down, and the instant I do he asked me to get off the bike... **** *****, this is going to be expensive already I can see it.
Dude pulls out a tape measure (different cop from the Jeep one), and measures blinkers. I've got the pigspotter2 mirrors with the LED's on the top. Front's are too close together. The rears are too close together. My windscreen is blacked out and thus not able to see through. It's a freaking R6, there is no way I use the windshield for anything. Even fully tucked I can't get low enough to see. I tried explaining this to him, and that it was mostly there for wind and debris deflection purposes. Got yelled at for 'arguing'. Also tells me that my rear-tire is unsafe (I was on the way to get it replaced, heh), despite there being enough tread to feel a bump when compared to the tread-wear bar. Moving on... No reflectors on the bike. No plate-light, despite my having on. I flushed it into the fender eliminator. When asked to turn it on, he said 'I can barely see the light that pathetic thing is putting out.' IT'S TWO'O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON! Sigh. Final thing was the exhaust. Not legal. It's modified. Apparently in Washington, you may not modify the exhaust on ANYTHING. I looked it up, it's legit.
The worst part of all this was that when he was done, he went and sat in his cruiser for 40 minutes (the stop is now a little over an hour in length). When he comes out, he's got the RCW's and some other book on vehicle codes and state regulations. And he shows me each and every single one, while having me read the applicable statutes that I've violated.
Unfortunately, every single infraction stuck in court. That I'm not hugely upset about, as they were true. The $$$ was somewhere around $1100, I can't remember exactly. Main thing that **** me off was the circumstances. A group of about 12 riders on Harley's was passing when I stopped at the stop sign, and the dude pulls me over... There wasn't a single stock set of pipes anywhere in that group...

Unfortunately, us military peeps get pulled the most frequent in Oak Harbor. The base-stickers are kind of a neon-sign I guess. I know there's a good reason behind it, as there's a LOT of irresponsible kids and such, hyped about being on their own, this 'big' paycheck, lodging and good paid for.... They do get **** retarded. But for us that are responsible, it's very irritating.

4) Got pulled by base police, on base, for my exhaust on the Jeep. Yes, it's a Banks header, 2" to a hi-flo cat, and then 2.5" straight out and dumped over the rear axle. Yes, it can be VERY loud if I'm flooring it, but that's reserved for off-road and freeway merging. So the MA tries to write me for the exhaust, and I just looked at him and told him I wasn't signing it. I hadn't even left my parking spot on base, I was warming it up after work just letting it idle while I had a Coke and a chew outside. Exhaust too loud, while the vehicle is idling... Pfff. The issue never got past the arguement. My shop supervisor pulled up, ask what was going on, then told me to get my ass into the shop. Walked in together, and that was it. No ticket on the windshield after work, nothing.

Thus are my ticket and cop escapades in Washington.

Wow Toastr...the cops in your area are real ****! The Police must be supplimenting their dwindling operational budget with charges/tickets that otherwise a cop wouldn't give 2 craps about.

The only thing I've been pulled over that was completely bullcrap was in my old '91 Q45. A cop in Beaverton pulled me over because he said my exhaust was too loud and was aftermarket. This really perplexed me as the exhaust was completely stock with a pair of stainless steel tips. I told the officer exactly what I had as an exhaust and he radioed in for assistance. The cops in Beaverton profile cars like crazy and my car was lowered. After about 30 minutes the second cop (apparently the supervisor) showed up, looked at the charges and looked at the exhaust. He then proceeded to chew the first cop up and down telling him if he kept this up he will be suspended or fired. I stifled my grin and just looked away. Anyways, the 2nd cop applogized and sent me off. As I pulled away I could see the two arguing and the 2nd cop grabbing something from the 1st cop, throwing it at the ground. I really hope he was tossing his badge.

^ lulz you get alot of **** hahaha

Good ol' North Dakota is aight, i have yet to find a curfew in the state... One town is merged with another from minnesota and that one has a curfew but cross teh river into ND and ur golden haha.

I grew up in a TOWN of about 800 people total...yes 800 and go to school in the biggest city in ND (which is still microscopic to ex: minneapolis MN haha)

Town:... One i got pulled over in my town i was going 45 in a 25 and got pulled over by a local highway patrolman... ( He was the boyfriend of a girl my older sister used to be "besties" with) so lets just say that WE'VE MET... He asks me to get into his car so i do, leaving my friends in my car. He does all the processing as im sitting shotty and we start talking about my last hunting trip and about the crown vic. he drives etc. at the end he just says "well... i cant not give you a ticket but i dropped it to 34 or 35 (i dont rem.) so you dont loose any point on ur licence and its like a 10 dollar fine." Me: "haha ok sounds good to me thanks i owe ya one icon_smile.gif " icon_smile.gif

Town: Got pulled over with a couple friends this summer for my underglow (i was rocking multiflash so DUH) It was a newer cop to the county PD and we were on first name basis and he's a cool guy. Then my friend in the backseat goes "JAMES! What do i do with this case of beer" I forgot about it haha we throw my backpack over it and just relax. he comes to the window and
Him: how ya doing?
Me: not to bad just driving around
Him: yeah haha i figured this wouldnt take long you know why i pulled you over
Me: yeah its not a hard guess
Him: There are certain colors that are ok but you cant have em flashing like that k?
Me: yeah no problem i'll just shut em off for a while
Him: alright have a good night

Talk about stupid tickets ... I was cited for 1MPH over the speed limit puppy_dog_eyes.gif
Small little one traffic light town KNOWN as a speed trap , Radar detector was going off 1 mile before I get to the town ... Set cruise control for 34mph (35 zone) and go past the cop and he's rolling out with lights on ... icon_rolleyes.gif " Do you have any idea how fast you were going "
" 35 sir" , "No you were doing 36" icon_evil.gif Wrote me a ticket for $150 fine ...
Of course it's not a real court to try to fight it icon_neutral.gif

I didn't think you even could be cited for less than 5 over...

I've only been pulled over once, for speeding, which I was. Officer was nice, gave me a warning. icon_smile.gif

Even if there's NO CHANCE of winning? What would be the point?

Feel a burning need to pay witness fees as well as the fine and court costs?
