I can smell it now. Ugh! I hate gear oil.

I went through a couple sets of gears in my Ranger, not hard to do...but can be a ***** if you don't get them shimmed up correctly biglaugh.gif

Ehh, it might take you a day to put new gears if you've never done it before. It's not hard. Just make sure you shim right so they don't whine.

Fun times. icon_smile.gif I once had some Ford Motorsport 3:73 gears in my Mustang and had a large chunk break off the ring. Definitely not as bad as yours though. icon_surprised.gif I tossed those and swapped them out with a Richmond ring and pinion set. What's the actual gear ratio of those Alex?

yeah its a chevy 10 bolt with a 3.42 ratio. for a new ring and pinion it is 150 from jegs but i also need new bearings, seals and shims along with a few other little thing in total about 250 bucks in parts. i just check a local scrap yard and they have 3 rear ends that will fit it may just do that.

For future reference, if you are going to use cinder blocks, I suggest not orienting them the way you did to hold the trunk up. Especially putting weight where you are putting it. It is one of the weakest directions of a cinder block.

Orient them the right way, and stack 2 and use some wood if need be.
