Ok, i traded the HHR yesterday for a truck.

i picked up an 06 F150 xlt ext cab 4 door 4x4
5.4 triton
all power, 6.5' bed, automatic, tow package
57k miles
great shape
black with dark grey and light grey interior
needs cleaned up but its going back in monday to get detailed.

i got the truck for $20k

KBB books the truck as:
private seller---$19k
dealer----$21k

good deal?

ill have pics up sometime today after work. dealership closed at 5 pm yesterday and i got home from there at 8pm.

If its super clean IE no major dents/scratch's. You say its dirty but im just gonna assume you picked it up before they even had a chance to give it a bath.

What did you get for the HHR?

they paid off the HHR.
the truck has 2 dings, not bad.

they got the truck on trade, someone at the dealership wanted to buy it so he sent it thru service, hide the keys and put a THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR SALE sticker on it and parked it in the service lot.
the truck has alot of fishing stickers and boat decals on it.

Yeah, that's what "paid it off" means.

I think any trade that involves no negative equity in today's market is a good one.

On the other hand, the price on the truck is a bit high. The kbb is high too.

$20k alone I'd say is an ok deal. $20k plus the HHR I'm not too sure about that one.

IM with the other guys, if they just paid the HHR off and your loan on the truck is still at 20k then I would not say you got the best deal, now if they put a few grand from the hhr on the truck you made off good.

I'd have to agree with the other guys,it probably wasn't the greatest of deals with the HHR tossed in. icon_confused.gif

wouldn't them paying off my hhr loan be the same as me selling the hhr to someone and then paying off the loan?

then me going to the dealership and buying the truck?

the $9500 i owed is gone. it will show on my credit that i paid it off completely thus boosting my credit score.

the hhr booked for a lil over $8k.
i had $1k in it.
owed $9500 on the loan.

and a-ray, the name will change.

TONY!!

I still think the price on the truck is HIGH. My parents bought one when the truck market was way down. Only had 17k miles on it and it was SIGNIFICANTLY less.

I got ya J.R.

In this market, with the HHR being a flush (no negative equity) then you couldn't have done any better at a dealership. So that takes the HHR out of the equation, like you said. I do think the price on the truck was high, but if you like it. Then that's all that matters.

Enjoy the ride!

My truck is still worth $3k more than I paid for it last year.

From what I've heard, trucks are selling a lot better than they were last year though and so you can't really get those deals anymore.

I'm also guessing for $20k you got a fully loaded truck and it's a lot harder to get the price down on something fully loaded than a base model.

That's better then.

My truck was pretty basic, but it was an 08 with 15k miles. I got 21 in trade, they'll probably try to sell it for 25 to 27 (that's the going price at that dealership for comparable models anyway).

I would list my truck around 20-22k with the economy.

For an XLT that is bone stock I wouldn't have paid over 16k. Depending on how much you owed on the HHR that they paid off you may have paid a couple grand over.

I bought my 05 in 07 with 38K miles on it and paid 23k. Talked them down from 31k.

well, deal went south on the 06.

50mph the truck shuttered, took 5 minutes to get from 50 to 70 and overdrive never kicked in.

took the truck back to sign papers and told them to detail it and send it to service to see what the problem was.
i told them im not signing anything till i know what the problem was.
sat there for 3 hours waiting while the truck sat in the same spot not touched.
no one knew what was going on with it. no one would give me a car to do my runnin in.
dad was with me and he flipped out on a guy.
i decided if this is how they act now, it will be worse after i buy the truck.

check thread in Pic section for my new truck icon_biggrin.gif

Keep the HHR. Pay it off and then sell it. If there is something wrong with it already....**** that.

Now on the other hand, If you do get it, I have some wheels and tires for sell.
