Anyone on the east coast feel the earthquake yesterday? We did. First earthquake I've ever felt. Felt like I was getting woozy and going to pass out, until I found out that the actual building was getting woozy.
No damage, just weird. |

Yeah. I thought someone was rocking my chair from behind on the 23rd. But not yesterday.

Yeah, I was sleeping and had just woken up like two minutes before it happened. I remember the last small earthquake we had and I knew exactly what was happening. I wasn't scared, I actually thought it was pretty damn awesome. Then after it passed I became a bit worried, because over a week ago I had a vertical lift installed outside my deck and I thought that it may have cracked/damaged the newly poured concrete platform. So I checked it out and fortunately it looks like there's no damage.

I remember the first earthquake I felt in California. Was super minor, but definitely an interesting feeling, haha.

The devastation is almost too much to handle. You all are in my thoughts.

Absolutely hilarious The_Mastor. Could people really feel that 3 states away???
Last one I felt in southern CA, imperial valley, in 2009, around 150 mi away from me. Im sure it was scary for the people in Virginia, but 3 states away, REALLY???. On December 30, 2009, at around 10:50 AM, at least four earthquakes rocked the Imperial Valley in less than 20 minutes. The first quake began at 10:48 am and registered 5.8 on the magnitude scale. That quake’s epicenter was several miles south east of Mexicali. The second quake, which registered at 4.9, took place at 10:53 am and had an epicenter close to the previous quake. The third one registered 3.4, hit at 11:04 am and had an epicenter closer to Mexicali. The fourth one registered 4.0 and hit on 11:07 am with the same epicenter as the first quake. While preliminary damage was not known at in the early stages, some houses were rocked heavily enough to cause objects to fall from cabinets and shelves. |

Was said earthquake back in like 08-09?! I was in LA California during one of those summers and the first day we got there was when the earthquake hit. Being from North Dakota I've never even thought about a quake but that **** was siiiiick! I felt like I was bouncing around on a suspended platform and someone huge was jumping on it. like 5 seconds later I realized it was a quake when the buildings around were swaying and stuff. |

although earthquakes suck....tis funny to laugh at as here on the West Coast we use your earthquake magnitude to shake our morning coffee
Biggest I have felt was 6.9, not a good feeling when you feel like you're surfing the second story of the building your in. |

The east coast is mostly one big slab of granite. It's like ringing a bell. The shockwaves travel hundreds of miles. It was felt even more than 3 states away actually.... The west coast is much softer, so things don't travel that far. |
