I might be banned for this post over on his forums - so I thought I would post it here too. I really wish the weekend would have had a better outcome.

This was the worst dells out of the 4 years I have been attending - I had fun but it was by far the WORST.

I am sure this thread wont last long - but I thought I would post my expierence as it seems everyone else is posting theirs.

Friday - we headed up there and a 2 hour drive took us almost 4 hours. There was an accident on the freeway that involved 4 fatalitys and a 1 hour clean up :-\ Then after we finally got moving again the rain hit and our caravan was barely traveling 40 on the interstate - as most vehicles pulled to the side to wait the storm through. Our caravan consisted of Myself, John in his Red S-10, Aken and his girlfriend in his Legacy GT - Phil from Oz with hsi buddy Brian - and one of Aken's buddys in a bagged white s-10. Little did I know that having Phil - an online friend of mine - come to the dells would be a problem. Boy was I in for a surprise.

I lost control of my vehicle not once - but twice due to hydroplaning and huge amounts of water.

We got to the dells and checked in to the skyline - which is where we usually stay. Got stuck on the 3rd floor but hey it was a place to sleep.

Well - it rained on and off and I met up with some really cool people. It got later - the switches got flipped and the parking lot lit up like a late night circus downtown. Lots of cool glow - lots of cool people. I thought I would hit the strip. On my way out of the parking lot I was stopped by Ben.

Ben was a bit upset at me for bringing Phil. I had no idea they had a problem - as I havent read these forums for much more then a few months. I tried to make peace - and I thought thats what I did.

Later that night I went up to my room to find otu that John ( My room mate ) had his girlfriend coem up to stay with us at the hotel. HIs girlfriend is the biggest ***** and made me feel like **** - so I left the room and ended up falling asleep in the lobby of the hotel, only to be awaken by a **** off hotel manager at 7:30 saturday morning.

Saturday morning the weather began to clear up and Dan came to town - so Dan and I went to Denny's for some breakfast and hit the hotrod show. The show had the same vehicles as the previous years with a few new entries - but it was still cool to see as it is every year. Tiem flew by Saturday and it began getting dark out - so tradition of Bens show always leads to going to the Bungee swing down the road from the hotel. I was one of the first to arrive sicne I was kicked out of the hotel parking lot by the manager cause I wasnt staying the night there and the parking lot was not a hang out spot, or something like that? Whatever

I got there - and people started arriving. Phil parked next to me, Aken down a ways - and the lot began to fill. I thought maybe tonight will be fun. Ofcourse it had to be spoiled by a grudge that none of us understand - as Phil was being forced to move his vehicle. He drove 24 hours to go to Bens show hoping to tie up loose ends - but it did nothing but cause problems. And since I was a friend of Phils and of Bens before this meet - I deemed it to be one night - it couldnt be that bad. Well - not only did I feel unwelcome when Ben sent Al over to have us move so Ben could park there - by this time the lot was full. After some arguing - I decided to leave the lot to avoid any further contact with this very immature behavior. Its a **** parking spot - but apparently it was Bens and I had to go. I left the lot and didnt plan on returning - as my girlfriend came in town to see me and that was another mess in itself.

It was cool meeting up with everyone - especially Al since he is really a great guy. Him and I just got started on this forum on the wrong foot. It was cool to see Jawad again - and to meet all the guys from the forums. So I had fun - but fo rme it was a bad weekend.

As for Ben - I understand how you could have been upset at me for giving Phil a place to sleep. But for me to invite him to the show? I didnt see anywhere a list of people who weren't welcome.

Because of this - I dont think I will be attending this show next year. I have for the last 4 years - but because of the lack of respect I was spooned this year I really doubt I will be returning for a 5th year.

Delete this post if you must - delete my account if you need. I didn;t mean to cause any harm by inviting a friend - or inviting the guy that got me into flow in the first place.

So in closing, and probably my last post on these boards since it seems I most likely will be getting banned in the near future, I qu0te. "Ignorence is Bliss"

Sorry to hear that you had a crappy time. I didn't know phil was going. Did you have fun besides all the fighting? Whats funny is your little comment on the bottom. I have a sign in my room that says "if ignorance is bliss...I must be the happiest person on earth" Well besides the rain and stuff I hope you had a good time.

Dam, sucks to hear about the fighting and everything. From what I've heard, Dells is supposed to be a gathering of friends and fellow glowers, not enemies. icon_confused.gif

I've been a member of Ben's board for a while, but I hardly ever post over there for that same reason. There are too many people that get po'd too easily and they seem to hold grudges.

It's a shame really. because even though it's only a few who are like that, those few are the ones that make things suck for others.

On a lighter note some of us Masshole have been trying to get a Dells like show toghether for a while now so you could always come here next year Pork. LOL it should only be like a 48 hour straight drive for ya. And you're welcome to bring Phil too. LOL

being that it was my first time at Dells, i suppose that i had a good time. there were several things that could have made it better, such as the weather, less B.S. arguing, and of course being able to have my Escort (i had to drive my dad's station wagon). all in all, i guess i'll probably be back next year (if i can), but i'm much more looking forward to a glow meet set up by Phil himself icon_wink.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Luckily no - I didn't. But I came damn close to those medians let me tell you.

As far as another show - I was talking to Phil about this on the phone just the other day. Hopefully we can organize something closer to florida, yet closer to the west coast so we can get more people to come.

Only difference - is that EVERYONE would be invited. Not just a select few. It's a real shame that it worked out the way it did - but thats life.

Dell's was alot more fun when I wasn't threatened, but hey I could have held my own.

It sure was cool meeting everyone I did though - even though alot of people kept to themselves it was all good. Phil is a great guy in person as many of you now know - and is welcoem back at my place anytime.

On a **** note there might not be a dell next year. This year got a little out of hand. We were officialy not wecomed back friday night. then we found out today that the skyline might be sueing ben over some **** up rooms. The rooms IMO were not that bad. We did desurve to be kicked out but **** is trying to be sorted out. Also if ben loses a law suit ICUSTRN is no more.

pOrk, much thanks for letting us crash at your place. It is unfortunate you didn't have a better time.

I don't have a problem with anyone there. I did not go to promote Oznium. I went to meet people whom I had talked to online for years. I drove 1500 miles each way to have a good time and see some glow. I had quite a good time. I understand Ben's concerns. He doesn't want Oznium being promoted at his show.

The last night was pretty crazy but I don't see how anyone could sue over damage to a room. Just bill the person who damaged it or was in that room.

Most likely there will be a Dells next year, and I hope to go icon_lol.gif

Ya know... i don't post much i just lurk every now and then, recently due to some actions some know bout... but im reading this post and read somin on icustrn's forum yelling at phil and ive noticed something.

The same group of people go from message board to message board causing problems and getting ticked off at moderators, yet they think they are the ones being perfect angels. Anybody else notice that?

And i have to comment bout phil promoting his company at dells, from what i understood the majority of the dells crowd purchsase from him or used to, and now all of a sudden you have a problem with him? Why because he kicked you off his forum once perhaps? Or maybe he wouldnt give you free gear? I dont know exactly why, but hes just trying to give you guys a good deal. I can't allow it on our site because we don't allow advertising, but i think hes doing a good job so far...

I just felt like saying somin cause a lot of people act really immature and go off and on and have tantrums. They get banned and start wars and they think they are being cool but in reality people who act like that are just making themselves look very foolish, and they get laughed at behind their back.

Nobody wants to be friends with someone being a jerk. You may think its funny at one time, but in the end, nobody likes you for doing that.

Phil went out there to try and make ammends and from what i read some people were still just real jerks to him for no reason. I think phils the bigger man for trying to put petty **** behind him, but some of you still need to learn how to grow up. Those of you who trash hotel rooms and get so drunk you get out of conrol, its actually not cool and i dont know why you think it is. Society looks at you and they feel sorry for you. They look at you and see a life of flipping burgers at burger king or future police problems. It really is a sad thing to see.

Just look at the behavior on the various message boards, you will see the same group acting up on each one and acting like they own the place, when in fact people really don't want them around, they just put up with it because they don't want to stand up and have themselves put on the spot.

Us moderators don't care, its our job to put people on the spot and to stand up for it.

But thats my 2 cents, felt like saying somin and didn't like how i was reading things bout phil when hes done nothing from what i can see.

It's really hard for me as I'm a moderator on ICUSTRN, friend's with Ben and everyone else there, and I'm also an active member over here and friends with Phil. Now I can see where Ben is coming from. He pours his heart, his time and his money in to ICUSTRN and the Dells. He looks forward to the Dells ever year and it really is his time to reflect, have fun, hang out with his friends, etc. ICUSTRN never has any popups, never has any advertising of any kind, it's all out of his pocket.

Now as where Phil comes in, it's kind of hard to see. I don't know why Ben has beef with Phil in the past, and really that's not relevant. From Ben's perspective, he doesn't want a company (ANY company) to come and promote at his site or his meet. Ben paid the money, it's not fair for smeone to get free promotion out of it. Now that being said, I don't feel that Phil did MUCH wrong. He was told (rudely unfortunately) that while he was at the Dells, not to advertise. From the stories I heard, he handed out business cards (Phil says only two, not a big deal, but the principle may be the factor), and some ducks --- not a huge ordeal either. Also, to say that Phil came to the Dells for advertisement is just completely dumb for anyone with an idea of how a business works to say. Phil drove 1300+ miles round trip. With gas prices how they are, he probably spent well over 140$ right? Add in hotel, food, etc, it makes for an expensive weekend. Now for him to make back 150$ in profit, that's a TON of stuff to sell. I don't think that traveling 1300 miles to hand out 2 business cards will make him a large profit.

I can't really take a side, and I really don't want to. I think it was great for Phil to come, and hopefully he and Ben can work things out and come back next year if he wants. But I would suggest to Phil to leave behind all business cards next time. Oh, and Phil.. next time tell me goodbye when you leave icon_cry.gif

i didn't really like how Dells was set up anyways. i would of prefered it to be in a state that allows neon lighting while driving... like say Ohio for example icon_confused.gif icon_lol.gif

I dont see how people think I am pushing my business there. Driving 3000 miles and using 5 days of my time to go to a meeting with maybe 50 people... 20 of whom already buy **** from me... to adverstise is such a waste of my time and money. If I wanted to spend those days promoting my site, I would work on improving the site, talking to magazines, and selling products. The bottom line is, I didn't go there to make a dime. Giving a duck to someone who already buys from me is just being nice. It is not advertising... I didnt go there 3000 miles to get hassled by anyone... i went to have a good time, for the love of glow... to meet people in person who I had talked to for over 2 years... Sure I am not part of the Icustrn community but I am part of the oznium and streetglow community and these people are common throughout both.

I had a great time despite some rudeness, and if my schedule permits next year, I will be going again.

I posted twice on Ben's board. Didn't like it, too impersonal.

Far from impersonal. ICUSTRN becomes a family almost once you post a few times. You can't expect a board to be personal after two posts.

True, but it would be nice to have a glow meetings like the Dells for the people who are not able to go to the Dells due to the long drive.

well Cerwin, we'll say you're a "special" case icon_lol.gif

And yes, go ahead, try to duplicate Dells somewhere else. I know a lot of ppl don't go b/c it's a long drive. The problem is, Dells is about as centralized as you can get really. I mean you can move it a little more south, but that's about it. Can't please everyone -- EVER

Dells is almost directly north of N.O. A really centralized spot would be Kansas.... And who said we couldn't duplicate Dells somewhere else.

And it would only be about 2500 miles one way, but i sure would give him some gas money to get down here. It doesn't have to be the same weekend as dells either.

If I'm not mistaken the Dells is just a big get together/glow off/car show right? icon_confused.gif

once it is striped to the basics. i personaly am very happy phil went. He was the person i was most looking forward to meeting. I got a duck icon_biggrin.gif ozzy_change.gif . i know i handed out a oznium card to i think it was the subsonic guys when they asked where i got the whelens and if it would work in there truck. I always carry like 3 oznium cards on me. i try to support phil in anyway possible. The moment that scared the crap out of me at dells what when we were walking down to wake carls up Phil jump at his window when i was walking by. I nearly crapped my pants it was like somethingout of a movie. lol.

Ya know... i don't post much i just lurk every now and then, recently due to some actions some know bout... but im reading this post and read somin on icustrn's forum yelling at phil and ive noticed something.

I hope this reply wasn't directed towards me - as it explains the total opposite of myself. I dont drink or act stupid at get togethers like these and I wasn't trying to be cool by starting an argument. I just assumed I would be banned for going aganist Ben - since all of the members on his forums basically worship him.

I'm confused?
