i've had my stereo (2 12" MTX, 600 watt amp) installed for about 6 months now without a fuse between the battery and amp. i've been thinking that maybe that isn't the safest thing to do and want to put a fuse in, but i'm not sure what size. also, i'll need one for my interior neons as well. any help on this matter is appreciated, thanks!

lol no its not the safest thing. if theres a short circuit somewhere you could burn your car up...or at least accidentally weld your amp cable to your car
get a fuse holder and a fuse thats rated for your amp (check the instruction manual or website or something....or just ask a car audio place) then put the fuse holder on the power cable within about 18 inches of the battery. thats about it! |

For a 600 watt amp I would recommend around 50. I'm not really sure - I have a 1200 watt amp that draws 118 amps of power, and I have an 80 amp fuse.

it all depends on the amp...my JBL BP1200.1 came with a 50 (or 60) amp fuse.
it depends on the efficiency of the amp. |

i heard someone say each accent tube was about 0.5 amps...so figure it out from there. Cold cathodes are probably about the same. Each (StreetGlow GS) underbody neon is about 1 amp. LEDs are negligible (like 20mA...thats 0.02 amps)
