How many series of blue LED's can I reasonably put in parallel with good brightness? I know that 3 LED's can be placed in series and that each of these "series" can be put in parallel to each other. I would like to have 4 series in parallel going to one switch giving me 12 LED's under the dash. Is this plausible?
Thanks. |

you can put 4 LEDs in series, then I think you can put as many LEDs in parallel as you want depending on the size wire you're using. for all practical purposes you can use as many LEDs as you want.
Each LED is usually about 20mA (thats 0.02 amps) and here is a chart for various gauge wiring: http://clubknowledge.com/cgi-bin/car_audio_faq/faq.cgi?t1 For example, if you use 18 gauge wire, that can handle 5.21 amps. Divide 5.21 amps by 0.02 amps/LED and you get 260 LEDs. So unless you're using a LOT of LEDs you don't need to worry about that. |

Depends on the LEDs that you plan on using. Some LEDs you can put 3 in series, and some you can put 4 in series.
Do it like Cheesy said and everything will be fine.

Thanks for the info guys. I will go for the gusto and go as high in LED count as there is room under the dash to get maximum brightness.
