Yep they are brand new! I've seen the prototype a while back and it looks much better than the Fusion kit. It does not however compare at all to the Iceled 2.1 million color kit.
The PlasmaGlow 2.1 million color kit is not able to display more than one color at a time. The PlasmaGlow 2.1 million color kit will control any old style Fusion tubes, 7 color wheel well kits, etc since they both use the same 8-connector interface. |

How does it compare to a Flow? I know there's a difference in the number of colors it can produce, but besides that.

Oh man I wish I could afford it right now. I would definetly try to cause my bro has the Plasmglow kit and I could get the better one and see how they compare with the cars parked right next ot each other so some can't claim its been doctored. Well maybe one day I will be able to if this new job interview gets me a new job that should pay better and get me huge discounts.

Has anyone got this kit yet? I noticed that Plasmaglow now has it on their site but they don't have any good pictures or videos. I'm curious it they compare to the Iceled kits or not.

No one has the kit yet. They are not even in the hands of PlasmaGlow, although they should be very soon when the shipping containers come through customs.
The kit does not compare at all to Iceled. It can't display more than one color at a time. It uses the same 8 wire interface as all the old 7 color tubes. From the looks of the sample I saw, it seems as if it is really only showing 50 or so colors. The color fades are no where near as smooth as Iceled's kit. I'm sure Adrian can give a more techincal reason why Iceled is better. By the way, good to see you on the board again Jerry! |

Well, in addition to what Phil said, any set of tubes from an existing 7 colour-kit could actually be made to show 2.1 (21 bit) or even 16.7 (24 bit) million colors simply by plugging them into a different controller!
But one colour could only ever be shown on a tube at a time due to the use of the standard 8-way wiring: In the above diagram showing the wiring in a typical 7-colour kit, the top three connections (common to all LEDs) specifies the colour by varying the current in each primary color LED... Then the lower 5 connections (common to each pixel group) determine which groups light up in that color. The only way to make multi-color patterns is by putting active electronics in the actual tubes like we do: Then any group of RGB can be given different values, and hence multicolor patterns are possible - using just three wires to the tubes! Also, I'd point out that in addition to the electronics, there is also an artistic side to the design. An awful lot of time has been lavished on creating the fluid and organic patterns that UFO produces. Whether or not the Chinese are up to that sort of thing is another matter |

I just wish the ICE kit would drop in price to like the $500 range. I think it would make more profit that way. but who knows!

Actually they would make extremely little to no profit whatsoever.

well, then take wholesale and add 10-15% and then sell them. but $800 for underglow kit is to much unless your a person sho goes to contests.

Yea the profit margin is not much higher than 10-15%
Iceled UFO kits have the LOWEST profit margin of any of my products. $830 for an underbody kit may not be for everyone, and that is fine... There are plenty of cheaper products that will not last, will not be as bright, and will be poorly made. Iceled is owned by MJP Electronics. The people who run Iceled certainly are not running Iceled to make much money. They do it simply because they ALL enjoy the lighting scene. They like hooking up their cars with cool lights... And they use the extra slack in MJP Electronic's production facilities to produce Iceled products. |

Tiz true, well said Phil. The low raw-material cost of most competing products leave enough margin go through several levels of distribution as well. ICELED only goes from factory to retailer and at half the usual margin at that!
Rarely does so much of a customers money go towards the actual product itself rather than lining the pockets of the supply chain |
