Ok. Here are pics of my headlights.
I had sealed beam headlights and I switched them with sealed beam conversion ones from procarparts.com. They allow you to use an H4 bulb instead. They came with some hypergreen headlight bulbs and they just look a little yellower than regular lights. Im gonna leave those in there for now. I baked that headlights in the oven (1 at a time!) for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. I carefully used a butter knife to pry the housings open. You have to be very careful when doing this. I broke one lense in 1 set and I let one cool off with the reflector side down (covered) and it baked the chrome finish to a haze so I had to order a new pair. After I separated the lense on both I taped 2 ICELED Trons to the lenses and looked to see what I had to trim in the headlight to make the Trons fit. I used a rotary tool (Dremel) to grind down where I needed. After I was done I used alcohol to clean out the headlight housing and I painted the Trons end caps and cables aluminum so they are not as noticeable as the black would be. Used silicone to seal the headlight up and cover the holes where the Trons were sitting. Covered the headlight with a towel and put something heavy on them to create pressure and let them sit for 24 hrs. All that was left was installation and wiring which by now everyone knows how to do... Here are pics (night pics coming later today)

If the headlights are just siliconed together, aren't you afraid the heat from the lamp will cause the silicone to come lose and the headlight to come apart?

Yea... I love the effect created, I just don't like how visible the TRON's themselves are. None the less, it is an awesome job, DJ!!! Much Respect, man

The light is clamped down by a metal ring anyways... Gems would have been more of a pain in the ass...I asked Phil and Adrian about GEMs but since the Trons come in a weather tight package already it was easier to go with them (unless you get the sealed GEM but then it would have been harder to paint the housing)
Once the headlights are on, you cant even tell the Trons are on...other than you might see a colored dot here and there... The beam on an H4 bulb reflect of the top of the headlight, the high beam uses the bottom reflector and it doesnt affect the high beam either... |
