1. Euro Effects LED modules are mounted in a custom 25 Degree angle. Other competitors kits our mounted at a 5 Degree angle. What does this mean for you? By Euro Effects specially designing these, makes the light actually shine out farther, and the lighting is actually solid, and not spotted like other LED kits.

CUSTOM 25 degree angle! Custom custom custom! No... Actually some competitors (but of course you have already seen everything) use 90 ot 100 degree LEDs. Now those are sooper dooper custom icon_wink.gif

LMAO the description on the Euroeffects websites says they cover an extra-wide 70 degrees! Also the specification invites people to run them from 18 Volts DC. I hope there's more than just series resistors for current limiting. icon_rolleyes.gif

Brok> Here's a polite request: please remove the links to photographs I took of my designs (yes the images are linked from the ICELED server!), and the text that I wrote describing my designs off of your website. Everyone can see for themselves what they are, where they come from are what you're attempting to do with them. I personally think it just makes you look silly. You seem very proud of how hard you have worked in this industry - I suggest you havn't worked all that hard considering that we can only see the work that I've done copied verbatim. And rather than just import something from China, I designed the electronics, wrote the code, wrote the manuals, took the photos and built the ICELED website. C'mon man, where's your pride?

Oddly enough, I was recently contacted by the guy in China who runs the company making X-Line products. We got into quite a detailed discussion about the X-Line designs. He told me that his engineers were still working out how to do millions of colors. All the X-line kits as of the end of last month were just 7 colors. I think he was tapping me for info! Still, they must have got a real move-on since then.

I'm guessing that Brok will be editing his website soon so I've snapped the way it looks right now. Seeing as how every last word of the description is a direct copy of the specification I wrote for UFO, I wonder how people will feel when they hand over their $799 and instead of getting the product described get something totally different:

Polycarbonate tubing?
5 metres of 3-cores cable?
Precision Optical 70 degree LEDs? (still the brightest 5mm available)
17 million colors?
Resolution Enhancment (Anti-Aliasing)?
Current stabilization over 8 to 18 Volts DC?

Well what I meant by enjoying the readings was getting other peoples insight on my company even if it's bad. I cannot do any improoving if I do not know of the problems. I totally agree with you on the pictures and the text. But what you have to know is the China company we deal with is the same ICE-LED deals with, so yes it is his pictures and text, but he is describing nearly the same kit. Its not like we took pictures of a product that did nothing like what we were showing. The pictures and text we have posted describe the kit 100% truthfully. As you can see with my truck posted on the sight, if you did not know it was an X-Line kit. You would have thought I had a UFO kit installed.

I have also seen the ICE LED products and I agree with you they are in a class of there own. Yes they cost a little more, but the materials and craftmanship are great. Color Morphics released a comparable kit last year, only thing I hate is all the little 10 Inch tubes. It gives the car a spotted look underneath the car. I have personally installed and used this system and it really is hand down the best thing I seen if they change up the tubes design. Another company out there is one based out of Indianapolis Indiana they also have a similiar kit to the ICE-LED this is called the Color Storm kit. Again totally awsome kit, they just use the smaller tubes which is in my eyes a pain.

Well now the truth comes out. I was actually pretty impressed a few weeks ago when my designer showed me the new X-Line ad. Little did I know it was ICE LED's ad. Yeah the truck is mine but the text is all obviously ICE-LED's. We got the text and pictures from our supplier over seas. I will personally take the pictures my self and come up with some text on this kit TONIGHT!

And the 3 things you quoted to me above was used for eBay advertisements. This was not written up by me and I really laughed when I seen it, of course eBay sellers are going to hype up the descriptions of the kits making them irresistable because thats what they have to do when you got these no name brands selling on there for $50 bucks shipped to your door. Im not really sure about half of the crap they posted on the eBay ad's, but from what I am reading its just a sales pitch.

And for seeing everything, what I meant was I seen every brand out there worth looking at. I have traveled to China 6 times, I have been to Japan, I have seen all the LEADING manufactures products also. Of course there is more out there, but if it was anything special trust me I would have heard about it.

Well I hope I cleared up some issues on the site. If you guys have any further questions regarding anything dont hesitate to ask. I would be more than happy to chat online AIM: Euroeffectsco

Best Regards,

Brock

BS. The 'China company' mailed me asking if I would help them with the technicalities of producing a 2.1 million color kit. I of course declined. All ICELED products are designed personally by me and assembled in a factory here in the UK. We happen to have a 'thing' about using Chinese labour. FYI, as of July 20th the company that produces the X-Line kit didn't even have a prototype that could do more than 7 colors - and judging by the technical and commercial challenges that such a spec presents - I doubt if they will have for some time.

As for the text copied from the ICELED website being 100% truthful... So you're saying that it's capable of 17 million colours and all the rest? I think you might want to check-up on this. I don't know if you've been fooled or you're trying to fool us. But take it from me your facts are screwed.

Euroeffects wrote:

Except that it clearly has the front tube following one of the side-tubes and for some reason only produces 7 different colors.

Now that I have made it clear that all the ICELED products have NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO with the company that makes X-LINE. I suggest Euroeffects remove all the remaining images of ICELED so that nobody is mislead by the misrepresentation.

I cant remember isnt this the ****-block that stole pictures of my car. if i had your address i would drive all the way to your house to knock on your door and lay your cheap ass out. how is any knowledgeable person ever going to respect your company, products, or even you if you are knowingly steeling pictures to advertise your stuff. Ill admit if that is really your navagator which i would seriously wonder about the kit looks pretty good.

Well I went on what I was told by the factory. They said that they were your new supplier. When they actually sent me a working sample of what I thought was your similiar kit, it only falls into place to beleive them. Now that I know who you are as a company and where my factory stands with your products all images will be updated. I was totally under the assumption that we both had the same factory. Adrian You have my apology for the mis-understandings. Check the site tomorrow everything will be updated to all of our personal cars and bikes.

I wouldnt put it past you if you changed your site and took even more pics of others car.

How many X-line kits have you sold? or pre-orderd. Your customers will be very disappointed.

I hope the guy that hacked SG.com, hacks your site completly. You make me sick. (or I might just be sick because I just got my wisdom teeth taken out)

All right guys enough is enough. He made a horrible mistake, and he has been called out on it. He is now fixing his mistake. It may have taken sometime for him to fix his mistake but we don't need to continue like the mistake still exists and has no plans of being fixed. So, drop it or a mod may lock this thread due to your stupid comments on how bad he is. Not everyone is perfect, but we don't need everyone to tell him he is a bad person. Forgive and forget, or at least keep it to yourself.

Well, we finaly seem to be getting somewhere now. Euroeffects have made some pretty big assumptions all along, and this matter is not new. I've been complaining about the misuse of our images since June 2004 when I first noticed them on their website. Subsequent Emails and phone calls were all ignored. However I accept Broks belated apology and look forward to a proper discussion about the merits of the products he's offering.

What I do urge here is for Euroeffects to pay close attention to the actual capabilities and descriptions of the products they are importing. It's one thing to produce a kit that can display patterns in 7 colors (getting over the limit of one color at a time) - but to extend this trick to millions of colors requires a step-function in technology. This barrier can only be broken using distributed processing (as in the 16 microprocessors used by ICELED UFO for example) and people need to be particularly aware that, as always, you don't get something for nothing.

I tested a EuroEffects X-Line kit! Check out the photos and video and let me know what you think. I want your thoughs about this...

I like:
* More than one color at a time on the tubes
* Remote control has good range
* Good tactile response when pushing buttons
* Being able to freeze the kit
* LEDs fill the tubes end to end. This is the most LEDs I've seen in a kit
* 4 EXTRA ports on splitter box, allowing extra tubes - But there is no mention of how many extra feet of tubes you can add without overloading the ECU
* 5 levels of speed control
* Music functions are nice - Built in microphone in ECU

Dont like:
* Can only display 7 colors - Even though the box claims it can show 17 million
* When changing the colors and some patterns, all the LEDs turn off for a short time. it would be better if the transition was smooth
* The wire between the ECU and splitter box got VERY hot after 10 minutes of all 4 tube running. It is very thin gauge wire and not safe, especially if you add extra tubes.
* The connectors on the tubes are quite bulky and hard to fit through tiny grommets in the car or through the firewall.
* The acrylic tube is very thin and weak. You can easily bend it into an oval in your hand. Cathode kits are much more durable than this tube.
* The end caps slide off quite easily, they are not glued or fastened down.
* There seems to be plenty of waterproofing though in the tube
* The mounting hardware and cable ties are quite flimsy. i wouldn't trust them
* The remote has a bright blue LED that lights up when you press a button. It looks cool but it shines straight into your face and at night can be very annoying. It might be better if the LED was not as bright or pointed in a different direction.

Other thoughts:
* Brightness of the kit is fair
* Colors seem faded and "pastel", they are not rich
* There is a blue power indicator LED on the ECU
* Uses a 9 wire interface, but only 8 wires are connected. The white wire is left hanging...

Bottom Line:
I think the X-line kit should retail online for around $200, not $400. The patterns and colors are sweet, but the quality doesn't justify more than $200

I took a 2 minute video of the kit going through some patterns and colors. Approx 2.5mb, quicktime: http://www.oznium.com/phil/xline/xline.mov

Here are 28 photos of the kit. You can click on each one to make it larger:

Futon = cool! I used one of them a few times.

As for the write up...nicely done.

I will give props to you mr. xline person though. For 7 colors, it does look pretty cool.

But like Phil said, I would lower your price. I honestly dont know if you can get ~400 for it.

My 2 cents.
