Yeah, it was a great idea until the Noah's Ark of rainstorms. Shorted out a transformer (My waterproofing skills just aren't what they used to be) so I tore the cathodes out. Now they grace the undersides of my seats and are HELLA bright. Guess its time to get a real UB kit and hook it up to the same dome light feed.

I should've squirted caulk into the seams of the plastic wrap so it was watertight. My bad. Works better in the truck anyway. The cathodes under my backseats light the entire rear and illuminate the fronts as well. Then the sound activated LED's flash on the front driver/passenger which mix great with the over-illuminated cathode light. Just installed a second set of strobes in my headlights so they randomly flash between green and purple like a sick joker mobile. Its trippy to watch. Right now I'm working on getting my motorcycle license, so all future truck mods are on hold for the time being.

Do you have any pics when you had your poor mans UB? I was thinking of putting some under my Cherokee just to add to the PG Fusion kit (When I get it) I see that waterproofing is the key word here.
Oh yeah and when the hell did Cardomain start putting their damn name on pics EDIT: I got your video, are the green ones the poor mans UB? |

Yeah, I think there's a video of the poor man's UB on there. It doesn't do it justice though. I have no luck with my digital camera or camcorder when taking pictures of glow. Here's the best description I can give you. A solid bold light that easily stretched out 2ft from each side of the truck from front to back. (I only had two mounted on each side under each door) Many compliments on it, too bad it had to go.

Do you have a music interface? I saw it lighting to the music.
And is it that SG Music Interface? (Dont really wanna spend 50 bucs on that thing, even though it makes a cool effect) |

Honestly, no music interface. Just wired directly to my subwoofer amp. The only problem with that is you need something with a strong beat to produce the 4V required to light the LED's. Usually takes hip hop/dance. Rock pretty much does it weak.
The benefit to a box, if I understand correctly, is the unlike an amp, the SG interface probably produces 12V on/off, so no matter what music you played, you would get excellent light production versus an amp's variable output ranging from maybe 10-15V. Phil's LED's w/ resistor are designed to go 12V-->4V so anything less than that 12V produces a sub-optimal light. |
