today on my way home from sub shopping i was driving along in the 65 mph zone going 71 by my gauges or so and i see a cop on the other side i tap my brake and watched my mirrors and seen him turn around in the ditch. i hoped he didnt lock my speed in but he did the lights went on it turned out i was going 77. now aint that the ****. we went back to the patrol car i told him i knew my gauges were off but didnt think that far. luckly that line got me off with a warning. and my gauges are off i wasn't lying. now im watching my speed.

That line got a 92 in a 65 dropped one time for me, but then agian I purposely messed my guages up afterward so they'd be 22 mph off, well actually 17 since speedometers are oval and therefore exponentially off if off at all.

good way to test your gauges cheap is just drive on the interstate as soon as you see a mile marker slow down to 60 and maintain 60 for 1 whole minute and you should pass the next mile marker pretty close to that time frame.

or find one of those radar speedometer thingys that the cops put beside the road that tell you how fast you're going...but those can be off too. the one around my town was slow by about 3MPH. i thougt it was my gauges until my drive up here to seattle..they have speedometer check sections on parts of the freeways in oregon and washington...i set the cruise control to 70MPH (more like 69.9 or so) and timed it for 5 miles, and it turns out i was going about 70.1...so 0.2MPH off isn't too bad
i think the mile markers on the side of the road are a little less accurate than the designated speedometer checkpoints. another thing...i noticed there are a lot more signs on freeways in oregon and washington than in cali...all these speedometer checks and ****. i even saw one stating the blood alcohol content limit was 0.08%...weird |
