It was posted in July of 2003. I'd guess he doesn't have them anymore.

So what if it sux? I'm short on $. That's why I dug up this old post. 120$ for 2 subs and an amp, no matter how crappy, is good enough for me.

sigh.. if you can't afford it, don't get it... That's like saying you can't afford a car, so you go to the junkyard and buy a crashed car for cheap. So you got a car... it doesn't do **** but drip oil on your driveway and make the neighbors ****. It doesn't go anywhere. So what's the point?

Usually people buy sub woofers to help improve the sound in their car. In your case wanting to spend $120 for 2 subs, amp, box and everything else, you are looking to lower the quality of the sound in your car.. not increase it =P Why don't ya take some power wires and run them in parallel with your speaker wires so you can have a buzz in your speakers too =) Won't cost ya anything, and will do just as good of a job at making your system sound worse =P

Sorry, in a wierd, crabby mood today =P

Dude, I don't know what the hell your problem is.

You gave me **** on my other post, and now on this post as well. I just joined, so give me a break.

All I'm saying, is my friend paid 800$ for his subs/amp. I listened to it, it had too much sub for me, and I didn't like it. So I saw another friend who paid about 180$ for his. It was about perfect for me.

I don't want to blow my head off with subs. I hate hearing cars with that much sub in it. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that I don't like that much of it. I personally would rather not rattle my trunk off of my car (relatively speaking). I saw another taurus (like my sable) with subs, and it had rattled his window-breaklight off and cracked it. I don't want that for my car. All I want is a little "thump" in my car.

So please, give me a break. I don't have a ton of money, and I don't even want that much sub. To me, $120 is good enough for me. And if the subs have a slight buzz, I don't care, because I'm not a total audio enthusiast.

I'm sorry if I bothered you for willing to buy cheap stuff. So please, just let me buy what I want and not critique everything.

He is just trying to get som bump for his car and that is all he can afford. Cant hate the man for doing that. My first stereo was a set of Orion Cobalt (cheap line) 15s and an Orion Cobalt 200x2 amp. That thing Bumped loud....but it sounded like ****. but for the money I paid for, I was happy. As you get older and make more money, and if your into it, you start upgrading.

You dont have to start with best of the best. Some people are lucky to be able to do that. Most of us had or have to start somehwere at the bottom and work our way up.

Go for it man. It might be low quality stuff but its a start, then maybe later you can upgrade little by little.

sorry dude =P didn't mean to crack down on ya =) I'm just in a wierd mood right now. As for rattling trunks and such, I don't like that either. Buying a cheaper sub however will not make your trunk rattle any less, or your system sound any better. There is a such thing as too much bass (in my opinion at least) and I agree. I like to be able to get out of my car without having a headache from all of the bass. It's all about an equal level of everything.

It has to do with the products you are using, a lot to do on how it's installed, and how you matched your equipment. Using the right cabling. There is a lot to it. My previous car I had a nice sounding system and I got my subs for dirt cheap. It was however off a friend who worked at a tow truck company and got the stuff for free. When they repo'd cars with kick ass stereo's and the person couldn't afford to get it out of repo, they'd auction the car. Before they auctioned the car, he'd strip the stereo systems and sell'm for cheap. I spend like $100 and had a pair of Kenwood subs in box, with an infinity amp (back when they made amps). It sounded pretty good, and the amp was a perfect match for them. But the only reason I got it for that cheap was because it was a friend and he got it for free, so it was all profit for him. More than likely if you are buying a setup off of someone for $120 such as in this situation and you don't know the person, unless he's doing the same thing my friend was doing, you are getting piece of **** Walmart stuff that will sound like **** no matter how you set it up.

If you want to buy some decent quality stuff at low price, I can hook you up with someone I know who sells stuff at wholesale prices, however don't expect to get all you want for $120 =P It will definately be cheaper than in stores (half price or less more than likely) but it will still cost you some money.

Haha, hey I never said it was great stuff.

I started off with an "Open box special" BestBuy Lightning Sub and powered it off a scrap amp I had. From there, I inherited a slightly more powerful amp, but it still wasn't quite what I wanted. Year later, moved to double lightnings, and it was better. Year after that, moved to a better amp and two Infinity subs and Slipknot has never sounded better.

Start small, and upgrade as you need it.

The way I look at it, if I'm gonna spend hundreds of dollars on something I've got to live with for a few years until I can afford better, I'm going to at least get something semi decent quality and not get the cheapest there is. I listen to my stereo every day as I drive my car every day. Every time I go to work, come home from work, go to a friends house, go for an hour drive down south or up north. I'm always listening to my stereo. Driving through traffic as we have plenty of down here, makes driving frustrating on many occasions, so anything to take your mind off the frustrating part of it is good. Kicking back, relaxing, listening to tunes while you cruise at the slugish pace of 10mph on the 65mph freeway isn't so bad. Listening to **** sounding music and just being more fedup cause the guy's stock stereo next to your car sounds better than yours that you paid a few hundred for doesn't help things one bit =P

If I'm going to be driving listening to this stereo for many years to come, what's a few hundred extra bux? Spread it out over the next 5 years or more you'll be listening to it, and the $200 extra you spent only cost you $3.33 per month. That's not too much to pay considering you spend more than that these days in gas to hang out with your friend once and come back home. So you can hang out with your friend that you hang out with 20 times in a month only 19 times in the month, and you have yourself a nice stereo system =)

That's how I look at this kind of stuff. How will it help me in the long run? Can I really afford it now? Can I really afford it later? Is it really worth spending a few hundred now, and then throwing it all away to upgrade since you can't just slap in an add on, you have to replace the existing, thus wasting the money you originally spent on it?

So why spend $200 now on a system that doesn't sound that good that in the end you know you won't be happy with and will want to upgrade as soon as you can afford it, and then later toss that system and spend another $400, then later toss that system and finally go with the good stuff and spend $800 and finally be happy? If you know it will take the $800 system to truly make you happy, then get it, bite the bullet, and you will be happy for the next 5 years, rather than spending $1400 over an extended period of time, and only truly being happy for 2 of those 5 years because you only had the good stuff in it for 2 years before your car ended up dieing from racing your friends and running the engine hard =P

You don't have to be a major sound enthusiast to realize that you have to live with your choice for the next 5+ years in your car. So it's worth it. I got a decent sounding sound system for in my house, and spent 3 times as much on the sound system for my car. Why? Because I'm in my car more than I'm at home. I only watch movies once in a while, so it's not worth it to me to spend $1500 on a kick ass 7.1 surround sound system to watch a movie every 2 weeks to a month. I'm happy with the $450 I spent on my existing system because it sounds nice at the volumes I like to listen to it, and while it may not be the best, it does the job and I'm not using it enough to matter enough to get the good stuff. I use my car every day, and I use the car stereo every day, so I'm going to spend a bit more on it as I want it to sound good and last a long time. You don't want something that's going to die from just regular use after 1 year or less.. =P If my home stereo would only last me 1 year using it every day, then it will last me for the next 20 years easily with how often I'll use it. My car stereo would last me less than a year =P

Anyways, gone on about it enough, you should get my point =)
