I was wondering if anyone could tell me what colors of winshield washer lights are legal in Colorado. That would be great, or if they are even legal at all. I was just wondering cuz i want to put some on my Scion tC and i dont want to get pulled over the first day for having them. Thanks alot.

Well I've searched around for the CO vehicle code / laws / rules and cant find them. They exist somewhere, and they will have the laws of this.

Trying to figure out the legality of neons in a certain area can be very difficult. It isn't as simple as looking up the vehicle code for your state. Vehicle code can be very confusing and conflicting. Even a call or email to your local police station can be misleading.

People have been told one thing and even had an email as proof, only to be pulled over and slapped with a ticket by an officer who may not know the intricacies of the law.

Regardless of the law in your area, there are things you can do to reduce your chances of being hassled.

* Hide the light source so it is not directly visible from the road. For underbody kits, make a shield with a long piece of "L" aluminum or steel. Use black electrical tape to hide a section of the light.

* Take extra caution to obey all laws. If neons are perfectly legal in your area, and you are speeding just a few miles over the limit, a cop is more likely to give you a speeding ticket than if you had no neons on.

* Save the strobing red/blue for the car show or your driveway. Blue and red might be fine to cruise with as a solid color, but as soon as they strobe, you may cross the line as "impersonating a cop"

* Keep a copy of the vehicle code in your car. You can just print or copy the section that deals with lighting. Present it to the officer if you are pulled over.

* Respect police officers. They protect you when you are being shot at, they protect you when your house is broken into. Respect them and they should respect you.

So, my reccomendation is, if you want the lights, go ahead and get them and enjoy them. If it turns out you get hassled a lot for them, then you can just save them for offroad/show use. It isn't illegal unless you get caught icon_wink.gif

And welcome to the forums

Pay CLOSE attention to Phil's point of "Respect police officers." That is a HUGE one.

Not only do they do all the things he listed, but when they feel respected, they are MUCH more apt to being nice to you in return. Don't believe me?

I was torked when I got pulled over (first time ever). I wasn't speeding, I wasn't wreckless, I wasn't anything. Turns out he pulled me over for having green to the front of my car. You can have AAAANY color in the world underneith your car, but NOT red or green to the front of your car (as I soon found out). Compounding to that, I didn't have my driver's license with me becuase I left it in a town 30 miles away where I had worked that day. He then nagged me as well for having "obstructions" hanging from my rear-view mirror. So I had three nonsenseical strikes against me. Of course I was ****, of course I was torked, of course I was embarrased, of course I was in a hurry. But I was completely respectful. "Yessir, nosir, etc, etc." I got off with a warning. If the man wanted to, he EASILY could have written me a ticket or even taken me in for not having my license with me.

Be nice, and you'll get it in return.

ive had quiet a few conflicting reports about washer lights, i have been told by a mechanic they were illegal (failed inspection)...ive been told that they are fine as long as they are not red or blue, i drive with mine on at night along (they are clear) with my interior glow and i have never had a problem.

when i had em a few years ago, i bought the white ones, and still got ticketed, said they were bluish in color...

since then, no problems, took em off since i didnt like em anymore....

but yeah general rule is white amber front, red white rear.... be safe and no flashing, strobing, cop colors...

I have the cyberwhite bluish LEDS. Well acutally its those 7 color ones. The yellow is almost green so I never use it. I havent been pulled over ever for my cyber white washer leds. If they do I might try and respectfully counter them by saying that they are less blue then HID lights commonly on luxary cars. I beleive 10,000K HIDs are leagal for headlights and those are annoyingly blue.

he'll prob give you a bigger ticket if you try to counter w/ that... HIDs, are annoying, but they come from the factory like that... those little washer leds come w/ a warning on em about legality, and for offroad/show use yadda yadda crap on em, just like all the other stuff you find in pepboys honda isle...
