I'm thinking of investing in a nice, high quality radar detector to spot fuzz before they spot me.

What are you using? How do you like it? In your opinon, who makes the best?

I've been driving for 7 years and have no tickets or accidents.

I want one to help detect fuzz for glowing, as well as speeding... a little.

Also, I've heard the Rocky Mountain radar is the worst. Valentine 1 is one of the most expensive, but not worth the money. I'm leaning towards the BEL Pro RX65.

Having a cop see you with glow, then you turning it off = immediate admittance of guilt.

Just don't do illegal **** and you won't have a problem.

i saw some website for a coat of something you put/spray on ur car and it stops the laser from bouncing back off.

im getting a cobra when i get enough money. BelPros are good but too expensive for me. Escorts are good also, but it all depends how much you're willing to pay.

i have a cobra 9300... could have gotten the 9400 but the only difference is that it talks. Here's the deal.... when i made a post about this i had soo many people say just don't speed. Thats not what i wanted to hear so i'll tell you what i know. For my radar detector... i bought it for 85 shipped about 1 1/2 ago. It really depends on where they are and the situation if they are still gonna get me for speeding. If they are hidding i can usually pick it up before they even see my car and that gives me time to slow down...; however, in some spots they clock you and then your alarm goes off so they already have your speed. It just depends on the situation. Also, i had a cop following me close trying to kinda hide and get speeders coming toward us... he would turn his radar off till someone passed... so you would be caught in a situation like that. I was told valentine was the best. The way i see it... (most of the time) the more you pay the better they are.

My point to Aken is this thread asked about decent radar detectors. Not "how should I drive" or "what's your opinion on doing illegal stuff". If you don't have a recomendation for a decent radar detector, then I'd appreciate if you didn't post here.

radar dedectors arent worth the money. the jammer is your best bet. or flip up liscence plate and a 250 shot of nitrous. glow wise, if your afraid of a cop pulling you over for glow, chances are its not going to be while he is trying to catch speeders. a glow ticket is around 100$ from what i have heard. speeding ticket is more like 150$ plus 2$ for every mile over. so if he gets someone going 5 miles over he gets 60$ more a ticket while he is pulling you over for glow.

i agree with him lol i dont have a detector cuz i would rather spend the money on something else but i have run from the cops like that like 3 times and i have gotten away so and i got a piece of **** car so u can get away lol i know that is like the worste thing to do but my choice so dont hate on me lol k all u have to do is quickly turn so he doesnt see where u went and then he loses u all that is too it but one day i will get caught and it will be my ass lol [/quote]

other than a lot longer range and arrows that point to where the signals coming from, valentine one is worthless. radar signals bounce, so the arrows arent even accurate. cobra 9000 series is the best with prices from $60-130, rather than the $400 valentine.

and dont use hide away license plates when a cop is after you... that's just asking for a ticket.

I think a radar detector is worth it... if your gonna be speeding. I promise i've slowed down for about 3 radar traps... that could have easily been $100 per ticket and my detector only cost $85 shipped.

Radar detctors ARE worth it, I dont know how many times those things saved me..for people like me that never go the speed limit there very well worth it, I had one that I bought for $40 and it did its job for years...about 5 years to be exact...

I have some funky one now that blew the speaker out fo it...icon_sad.gif

But they do work...

First, the Escort Passport 8500 X50 is pretty much top of the line these days. Valentine One ranks up there with it but if you know anything about which number is smaller than the other, the 8500 is cheaper.

Also, don't blow money on anything anyone says is a radar/laser jammer. They DON'T WORK. Even if they did they are illegal as you are interfering with a radio transmission (FCC makes the rules on that one). The only REAL radar jammers that work come from the same companies that make radar guns for cops and they're really expensive. The best thing you can get in the way of **** like that is the Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter. It sends back new signals to the LIDAR gun which gives it a false reading. It links directly with an Escort Passport 8500 and costs just as much.

8500 X50, red LED's on ebay is like $250.
Escort ZR3 Laser shifter is like $275 I think these days.

Well it gets annoying when people are like "yeah the Valentine One rocks and Passport sucks...passport ain't got ****" cause it's wrong.

I don't really like Valentine because of the size and the stupid arrows (and price). You're paying lots of extra money to get arrows that light up to tell you where the cop is. That's dumb. If your radar goes off, slow down. It really doesn't matter where he is. Other than that, it comes down to whether or not you like to blow money. I say get the Passport, which can combine with the laser shifter if you want it, and use the extra money to put towards a Blaze kit or something. You'd only need about $25 or $50 more to get the UB biglaugh.gif

Does anyone here live in a city with lots of LIDAR use? I live in Albuquerque, a decent sized city, and I only ever got hit with LIDAR one time but I was doing like 5 under cause I was stuck in a ton of traffic and we were all going slow The cop was with some civilian woman and he was just standing there shooting cars with it. Wasn't like he was going to pick anyone up either...he was practicing. Other than that, I've never seen it used.

$250, even a $150 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much for a radar detector...

I payed $40 for mine and I bet it works just as good as the big boy ones do with all the bells and whistles...personally I dont need one that talks to me, I dont need arrows, I dont need all that extra features I dont use...I guess thats why they make a whole bunch, to pic whats best for you...bottom line is dont speed but still, I use them for my loud radio and my tint, cause when I see certain town cops I roll my windows and turn my radio off, dont need more tickets like those...but they do come in handle and dont have to spend a fortune to get one...

Belltronics, not sure of the model, Id have to go look...works well but they have to be using a radio etc just like any other detector...

With lightning they dont need a radio or radar device to get you....And no radar detector is going to pick up brain waves icon_lol.gif ....Dont drive with them on is the best bet...

Belltronics MSRP~350.....paid 150 on Crutchfield while on sale awhile back.....works well for speeding, but lightning violations it does nothing for icon_wink.gif
