Following too close...

Hey, im in Missouri, and i just got a ticket for "following too close..." even though i wasnt even that close but whatever. I got issued a court date... any idea whats gonna happen? Thanks.

its all up to the officers discresion as to what is "too close" some let people get away with nearly touching bumpers and some think that 3 car legnts isnt enough.
you probably wont get in much trouble and may have to just pay a small fine.

Its just like any other moving violation...You can contest the ticket but have a strong case, if found guilty you will have to pay a reduced fine most likely and it will go on your driving record....Dont FOLLOW TOO CLOSE....

I hate when people do that, I usually just tap the breaks and if they still do it, then I slam em on, if they hit me then I will have a ton of new parts for my car at their expense

^ Depends. If you leave marks due to your slamming on the brakes it can be deemed your fault and if they can prove that you wanted the person behind to hit you, It can be deemed insurance fraud. Becareful when doing that stuff

I've only ever brake check one person.... a Lexus that honestly I could barely see her headlights. I gave a medium tap and she drove around, flicked me off and yelled duck you which doesn't make sense.....

When they see the taillights go on, they won't immediately know they're not brake lights.....

As for following too close -- rule of thumb: one car length for every 10 mph.

It's only fraud if you get caught.

Otherwise your one smart kid.

in order to get away with it you need atleast one other car.

not fraud if the person is following too close...its tailgating, which is illegal to do....all I have to say is that a dog ran out in front of me....its his fault for following too close....Im not saying go on the freeway and slam on your brakes until someone hits you, but if I cant see the front end of your car while im doing 35 mph then look for the brake lights


I love my truck, has trailer brakes but whats great is that if you trigger the trailer receiver brakes the brakes dont come on, but the brake lights light up...so they think they are braking but in reality all you are seeing is just red lights

Or just floor it and they won't be tailgating anymore and if you get stopped for speeding tell the cop that the person was following you and you sped up to get the cops attention by speeding.

meh, If anyone tries this let me know how it goes. The only way you will have any chance of getting away with it is having another person in another car whos in on it.

best way to do this is have one other car cut you off so you can slam on your brakes. the car doesnt even need to be following closely, just close enough to where their reaction time isnt going to prevent them from rear ending you.
and your friend in the other car just takes off.

unless you can train a dog or squirrels to jump out in front of you whenever someone is too close.

^and hopefully you dont end up plowing into your friend who is helping you.
plus if there are any witnesses they will find your friend and if they can figure out that you know each other there gonna assume its a scam.

if your gonna brake check someone do it on a back road in the woods and say a deer ran ifront of you. but if theres snow on the ground and no animal tracks on either side then your **** if the cop is smart enough to check the story.

If someone is gating me, I just slow down by letting off the gas. Just the other day this one guy in a huge-arce truck (I could fit the whole front-end of my neon under the bumper) flew around me while I was going five over. Not even a minute later county mounty was after his arce. According to the scanner he was nabbed for C&I, following to close, and illegal modification to the vehicle (referring to the lift kit). I just can't wait until the SUV/BA-Truck fad is long gone.

I have a tailgating problem. If someone is driving too slow or **** me off I can't help but do it. It's probably the fact that I have the truck and that people always get scared and move out of the way that I do it. Looks like I'm "that guy" in this thread.
