Im looking to get into the freeriding scene. Any information regarding which bikes to lean towards would be appreciated.

lol. get pork's bike.
Volvo makes an awesome mountain bike that feels absolutely weightless. I almost bought one, but cheaped out. The thing weighs less then most tricycles! It handles, well, like an old Volvo. Very excellent ride and very fun to climb mountains with. Make sure you waterproof the thodes you install on your bike.... |

I have a Trek Fuel 80. What's nice about that bike, is it's the low end of the higher-end bikes. It's the exact same frame as some of the better bikes, but with lower components. I did that intentionally. I can upgrade parts until I have a much better bike, without spending too much to upgrade.
The Fuel 80 has also gotten quite a few good reviews from owners, magazines, and reviewers. I also found out that bikes are like cars in that there are "model years". I got a good deal on a previous bike, because I got "last year's model". They change the paint scheme sometimes, or some minor components, but nobody can really tell. I just wish I had mountains out here. Long Island is pretty flat. I mainly go "hill biking"..... |
