For those of us who either don't know how to "acquire" copies of Photoshop, or who have wives that keep nagging us about stealing software.... icon_redface.gif , there is a free tool that does about 75% of what Photoshop can do. I'm not into Photoshop the way some of you are, but this tool is great for everything I do, and more. It does cloning, filters, it has plug-ins, multi-layer, etc.

Thanks GR, I'll give it a go. I wrote a commercial image processing/painting package called Photodesk back in 1993. It only ran on RiscOS machines (32-bit ARM chip based computers). It had layers and plugins and all the usual tools. What a major effort that was! Oddly enough I stopped getting royalties for it years ago - not long after the company making the RiscOS computers folded (another victim of M$ world domination). But a bit of idle googling the other day revealed that my program was still in circulation icon_eek.gif Of course the ARM chip is now one of the most popular processors there is - finding its way into nearly every mobile device on the planet. I still find Photoshop damn hard to use effectively.

Photoshop takes some learning, but I'm starting to really like it and get proficient at it.

Gimp is supposedly great, but I've never tried it as I have the Adobe CS Suite biglaugh.gif
