Does anyone have any experience with the iceled extensions tubes?
I was interested in ordering an extra 1 foot extension when I purchase my ice. The problem is, on my 95 civic, the exhaust cuts through where the tube should go. That said, I would have to move the tube back about 4 inches from there the 4 foot tube would ends. I have no prior experience with ICE LED so I do not know what the spread is like. Would I be okay with a 4 inch gap in between the two tubes, or would it be really noticable? If so, I will just scrape the extension idea all together. I'd appreciate any insight anyone can offer on the subject. |

My guess is it would be slightly noticeable, but nothing too bad. I doubt you'd get an uncolored gap or anything.
This is just my opinion, though. I don't have any experience with the extension. |

Someone please?!?! I was hoping to order real soon.
Should even be able to tell from normal ICE kits. Does the kit spread at least a couple inches to the right or the left, past the end caps? |

I'm sure it does, but I can't say I've ever lined up a straight object and made sure.

Okay... thanks for your help Aken.
If anyone else has any input I would love to hear it. I am going to try asking on the ICELED forum as well. |

Mikersoft - the LEDs used in ICELED UFO have a 30 degree beam spread side-to-side (it's 70 degrees top-to-bottom). Any gap is bound to show to a degree, but it's entirely subjective. It also depends on how far from the ground the tubes are. Is that missing foot going to look any better than a small interruption of brightness? I personally don't think so.
I don't quite understand this problem with you exhaust anyway. Surely it's not a side exit variety is it? |

No it doesn't come out the the sise, it just zags across the straight line under my car where I attatched my last set of tubes. Right that line is about 2 feet in from the edge of my car. I could move them out about a foot and then i would be away from my exhaust problem. But then my question would be... how close can I get them to my exhaust without damaging the tubes?

Oh I see, well, my tubes are about 4" from the edge of the car so there shouldn't be any problem mounting them further out. As for clearance to your exhaust, so long as there is absolutely no chance of contact almost any gap seems to be OK. Air can't conduct much heat across and radiation just isn't that strong. Never mind a foot, an inch should be no problem. But a direct contact WILL melt through the Lexan and do horrible things to the circuitry!

TWO FEET to the inside of the car? Good gosh man! Find somewhere else to mount the tubes!

I guess with some metal L braket I could make it work closer to the edge. I really liked how most of the "glow" was concentrated under my car. It still showed for a couple feet out as well... BAH!! I will just get the extensions and make it work, I guess. Thanks everyone... or Aken and Adrian. |
