Looks pretty cool...Phil, you going to start carrying this anytime soon?
ICELED CoolFusion The projector
And the fiber optic ends...
Seems pretty expensive though, I think I remember reading on the ICELED site that it is about $380 for the projector and the fiber optics. |

couldnt you just take a tron with a lens over it and put it at one end of the fiber optic cables?
awesome idea tho. you could do some sick ass things with fiber optics. |

from what they have said on the ICELED forum is that the Gem is only 1/10th the brightness that the fiber source produces. |

So if you just got the projector...and didn't hook up the fiber optics...think you could disperse that enough to light up a room with?
Because that would be pretty bad ass. |

I can't really think of any uses for my car either, which is why at the moment I'm thinking more home uses that it could have.

the only downside that I see right now, is that all the fiber optic cables have to be the same color.

The "light engine" inside is pretty remarkable. It pokes out the same sort of light as a 35Watt Halogen. I'll bet there'll be a lot of other uses for it as well. This one's aimed at the Limo market, but it can also illuminate side-glow fibers - a great way to make 2 million color "Angel Eyes" methinks!

Fiber optic leads are MUCH smaller, and don't require wiring going to each light output. Also, it'd be hard to make each LED source provide 2.1 million colors! |

those fiber optic leads look big (maybe just a close up) no you don't have to wire each, but you have to run the cable (just as bad) RGB leds and a certain controller (wasn't it done on here) |

I have a one-off custom setup from ICELED that does 2.1 million colors per LED (thanks again, Adrian... |

The Fibers have an overall diameter of just 2.2mm, and give equivalent light ouput to a 3mm Nichia, except the Fibers can display 2.1M colours when used with the CoolFusion. The Fiber Optic Loom we supply has 80 tails, it simply plugs into the CoolFusion Output. Each fiber is then routed to where it is required. If you had 80 LEDs, you would have to make 160 connections per side, that would be a total of 320 connections. Fiber Optics require just 1. Then if you wanted RGB LEDs you would need 3 Connections per LED (assuming digital input), multiply that by 80 LEDs, and you have 240 connections per side, 480 connections in total!! Although the CoolFusion would be ideal for lighting around car sound systems, headlining etc, it finds a lot more uses in Limousines and in the home.
