I would like to install a brake light kill switch, and i dont know how to go about doing this the proper way. I want it so when i flip the switch it kills the brake light and then lights an indicator lamp, and buzzer so that way I know when I have it on. Also when we are on the topic, I am have seen people make a rear light kill switch so basically one switch kills the entire rear of the car, axillary lights, tag light, running lights etc.. but also being able to keep the headlights on. How difficult would it be to do these mods?
*yes yes i know, its a bad idea. i just think it would be one of those cool o' look at this mods* |

Best way is with relays, but I don't have time to draw a diagram now.

Ok I just had some downtime on the airplane. Here's a diagram for you :)
If I may offer a suggestion... to be even more inconspicuous, you should get a pair of night vision goggles and just turn off all the lights in your car.

I would have said use 1 relay and switch the ground wires for all the lamps at once. But that is just me.

Good call dude, that will be a lot easier! How's this look?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think some auto manufacturers use a common positive (with switched ground), while others use a common ground (with switched positive).

Wouldn't it be easier to kill it at the brake light switch output ???

That should work for both BL but wont turn off the TL
Pin 30 from the TL gnd 87a to gnd Should turn off everything that shares that ground. Yes you are correct some vehicles are common ground positively switched and others are common positive and negatively switched. |

Thanks for help guys, but one other question. How difficult would it be to make a headlight and dash light only switch? That way when I flip the switch the only that lights that light up is the headlights and dash lights.
