So, I've been thinking about making a set of bean bag boxes out of plexiglass or a similar material and I want to put some sort of lighting under the plexiglass so it will light up at night.

Thing is I'm not too good with wiring and stuff. It would probably have to run on some batteries so I would need a battery pack for them and then hook up LEDs or LED strips to that.

Anyone have any ideas that could help me out???

bean bag boxes? do you mean corn hole?

LED's dont take that much power but i'm not sure how they will run off a small battery. the better the power source the better the glow, you'd prolly need a car battery which can get heavy, you could maybe try a tractor battery, they're smaller and not as heavy, but you'd have to build some type of holster for it. If your trying this for corn hole, its a very cool idea, it has got my mind thinking now...

I refuse to call it Corn Hole. Its called "Bean Bags" or "Bags" here around Chicago. But everyone is different.

If anyone has any ideas of what kind of battery pack I could use please help me out. I really want to make this project happen.

Does anybody play bean bags(Corn Hole) on this forum? You have two boxes 30 feet apart and they have a hole in them. one person stands on one side and the other on the other side and you throw bags filled with beans and try to get them in the hole.

anyways that isn't really important. I need to figure out how I would power the flexible led strips without using some huge ol car battery

i dont know where you get them from but there are small batteries that sound like what your wanting. we used one to power our stroller below:

you can see it in the storage basket on the bottom.

(and no i dont play this game or know anything about it besides what you have said)

i've played before and know what you want to do, my suggestion is to use a tractor battery, smaller than a car battery but probably powerful enough to run a few led strips.

Thanks for your help everyone. I went to radio shack today and found a good 12v battery that is small but will do the job.

Get some flex strips, then use a router and remove wood to the depth of the LED strip and install the LED strip around the target hole.

I play Corn Hole all the time, I'm in a league.

Seriously.

My brother-in-law and I were thinking about building a plexi set with leds about a month ago. I was just gonna use batteries to power them. It's not that hard.

yeah I have everything figured out now. I'm just trying to figure out what lighting to use. I want to put lighting all the way around the box and around the hole. The thing is that ends up being very expensive using flex strips. I think I might end up using Cathodes around the box and a flex strip for the hole. That will be the cheapest way

My family here in Canada play it with the boards straighter up and multiple holes of various sizes for different scores (more fun for the kids).

For my Color Morphics LED undercar kit, I was running up to 12 of the 10" sticks off of a 9.6V radio control battery pack. Runs for a good amount of time, small and portable, and easy to recharge.

an ATV battery would work perfect. and brand new one is about 60 dollars. I used it to power some Neons and L.E.D.'s on my bike....

If you look really close you can see the battery under the back of the seat. NOT very big and last about....20-40 hours without charging.
