Hey Everyone,

This is not my first time messing with **** in my Z, but here is some pics on my hardwire V1 install for everyone to look at :)

^ Tapped into my fuse box, you can see the V1 hardwire unit, and the V1 plugged in. V1 is grounded to the steering column (used a ring terminal and a second nut)

^ Tapped into the power mirror 10AMP fuse using a add-a-circuit fuse

^ Pic of the install done, with the V1 mounted on the rear view mirror via a BlendMount.

Tell me what you think!
Thanks,

Scott

I hardwired my V1 into my fuse box so it turns on / off with the car, and there is no messy wire hanging down

Also installed a BlendMount on my rear view to mount the V1 onto

Ok, gotcha. Not sure what you mean about no messy wire hanging down though. Not really sure why you have it double fused though. No need for the inline fuse after the fuse coming out of the fusebox.

Also, I'm not sure about the blend mount, but I take it to mean you installed the display somewhere near the mirror.

Now we just need some pics of the glow under the car.

Ah yeah, the fuse was already installed by V1, and i just let it be there, didn't feel like messing around with it. And i meant the stupid coil wire that hangs down into the cig lighter.
Yeah the BendMount is pretty much a hanger for the V1 on rear view mirror

And no glow as of yet, just got the car icon_smile.gif

...Im assuming a "V1" is a radar detector?

V1 around here means the Inferno V1 underglow kit.

I just figured that out with his picture that said V1. No wonder I was so lost on things.

I read "V1 hardwire" and read that as Valentine 1 hardwire... since you kinda have to hardwire a V1 undercar kit...

Looks good, been taking myself in and out of buying a Valentine 1, I love what they do but I'm a cheap a$$ at points... I like the Blend mount, too bad my civic's mirror not only mounts differently but mine is also Carbon Fiber and has a different arm as well lol...

So now the obvious question WHERE THE HELL ARE THE PICS OF THE CAR?!?! icon_razz.gif

Really? I think it's only DC and Virgina at the moment that radar detectors are illegal. I'm pretty sure Laser jammers are actually legal in most states too. icon_smile.gif I've heard from Cops that if they pull you over for speeding and they happen to notice you have a radar detector, they will usually always give you a ticket,no warning. icon_sad.gif

for anyone looking for a good radar detector, the V1 is one of the best, i think you did one helll of a good job on that install, i hate when people around here just have them sitting on there dash. i also did a hard wire on mine, i have the beltronics remote mount and the results are so nice when there done right

the one i have

and the finished install.

Illegal in Washington State and numerous other states....if you have one, about 85% of Officer's will write you a ticket if they caught you speeding because you have one. With the Valentine 1's they are also illegal and can be removed from the vehicle.

Not trying to be a ****,but I actually frequent quite a few radar detector forums and I've never heard that. icon_confused.gif Although there are quite a few States that prohibit the use of Laser jammers.

This is all too familiar, I know someone with a Z who talked about installing the V1, and has a garage door that looks very similar to that in the photo. Oh wait, and his name is Scott too.

Radar detectors are legal in many cities and states in the United States. But this does not mean that radar detector units are legal in all of the states in the US.

Here are some of the states that deem radar detectors illegal:

1. The usage of radar detectors are prohibited in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They have laws banning the use of radar detectors. Not only are radar detectors illegal to use in Virginia, they are also illegal to have in the vehicle.

2. Radar detectors and radar jammers are illegal in the District of Columbia. The passing of their laws to ban the use of radar detectors was set in 1995.

3. In Illinois, radar detectors are only regulated in commercial vehicles of over 26,001 pounds.

4. On US military bases, they are legal to have but illegal to use.

5. Radar jammers are illegal in the states of Utah, California, Oklahoma, Colorado and Nebraska.

6. Radar detectors are not specifically regulated, but things hanging from windshields are not permitted in the state of Minnesota.

7. For motor vehicles over 18,000 pounds and any other commercial motor vehicles over 10,000 pounds in New York, radar detectors are illegal.

And other states that prohibit the use of radar detectors are the following:

%u2022 Alabama
%u2022 Arizona
%u2022 Arkansas
%u2022 Colorado
%u2022 Delaware
%u2022 Florida
%u2022 Georgia

The state of Connecticut on the contrary has cancelled its anti-radar detector law in 1998 which make this radar detector now legal in this state.

That sucks. icon_confused.gif Yeah, radar detectors aren't too fond of excessive heat. Most manufacturers recommend not leaving them on the windshield soaking in the heat.Heat soak=bad icon_eek.gif I remove mine and put it in it's case whenever I park for a decent amount of time. icon_wink.gif
