You have to have a special code to enter. Usually when the car is brand new it has a sticker on the front of the radio, that you are supposed to save for this purpose. If you don't have this code then you will probably have to call pontiac or something and get the code.

there isnt one code for all grand am radios. each radio has a unique code. call the dealership and talk to them usually if you can give them the VIN # and show proof of ownership they can get you the original code. if a previous owner changed the code then your screwed and unless you can get the code from them the radio is junk.

this can be done, for free. i had to do it on a customers grand prix when it reset after installing a new battery. there is an 800 number to call... ill see if i still have it bookmarked at home.

Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons @ the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will appear, write this # down, press & hold the am/fm button for about 10 seconds: another code will appear, write this # down, then call 1-800-537-5140 and enter 202108 followed by the # key, then enter the #'s that you wrote down from your radio followed by the * key. The call will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code. Write this code # down so you have it if you ever need it again. Enter this # into your radio following the instructions in your owners manual. If you get an override code that starts with 0, you drop the 0 when entering the code into your radio.
If you don't have an owners manual, try this, press & hold the hour button until the first 2 digits of your code come up, then press & hold the minute button until the last 2 digits show. Then press the am/fm button.

wow that kind of defeats the purpose of the code completely. so if you steal the radio and its locked you just call a number and they give you an unlock code?

if you want you can send me the factory one and i can try some of the generic codes or reprogramming it. it worked on mine for a few days.
but your best bet really is aftermarket. quickest and easiest

not true. a simple 15 minute process fixes it.

the 800 number is an automated system. i have a strange feeling the number and extension are for gm dealers only, but w/e ive used it once on a customers vehicle, and on my cutlass to verify it works.
